JonBenét Ramsey’s brother has spoken out for the first time in a decade, saying that an overlooked bit of evidence could be key to solving the case.
JonBenét was found murdered in the basement of her family’s home on Boxing Day in 1996.
JonBenét, who had been a child beauty pageant winner, was found strangled with a fractured skull, with a ransom note demanding $118,000 for her safe return found near her body.
The horrific case prompted one of the largest and most expensive investigations in Boulder’s history, but despite there being numerous leads and one arrest, no one has even been charged with the youngster’s death.

Her brother Burke, who was just nine-years-old at the time of her sister’s murder, has now spoken out as the case approaches its 30th year.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Burke said it was tough having to relieve the horrendous tragedy every time it received renewed attention as anniversaries passed.
However, he decided to speak out for the first time in 2006 in a bid to help solve the case.
Burke, who now lives a quiet life in Michigan, said that in his opinion, the police need to carry out further testing on a DNA sample that was recovered in 2003.
The trace DNA was found on JonBenét’s underwear, with testing showing it belonged to an ‘unidentified male’.
The DNA profile did not match anyone on the FBI’s database or within the Ramsey family, but Burke believes finding that match is crucial to finding his sister’s killer.
“We need to find that match. It's the best evidence we have,' he told the Daily Mail.
“It was underneath her fingernails and it didn't match any of us. It's probably the person who did it, you know, and it's the best chance we have to solve this.
“And I want it solved. I don't know much about the scientific nitty-gritty and it's hard to learn the details of the case, because it is emotionally taxing. But they need to send those samples to different labs again and keep testing.

“Find the match. That will go a long way to bringing justice. It's been 30 years and enough is enough.”
Burke also highlighted the fact that the DNA served to exonerate his family, who had previously been scrutinised and speculated about by the public.
As the unsolved murder enters its third decade, the Boulder Police Department keeps an open file and produces yearly updates.
Last December, Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn said: "The killing of JonBenet was an unspeakable crime and this tragedy has never left our hearts.
"We are committed to following up on every lead and we are continuing to work with DNA experts and our law enforcement partners around the country until this tragic case is solved. This investigation will always be a priority for the Boulder Police Department."
As well as its upcoming anniversary, the case is likely to garner new attention with the release of the upcoming Netflix series The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey.
The drama series sees Melissa McCarthy playing JonBenét and Burke’s mum Patsy - who sadly passed away in 2006 - alongside Clive Owen as her husband John.
