Johnny Depp's Ex-Girlfriend Testifies Actor Was 'Controlling Boyfriend'

Johnny Depp's Ex-Girlfriend Testifies Actor Was 'Controlling Boyfriend'

Actor Ellen Barkin described their relationship and alleged Johnny Depp threw a bottle of wine.

Actress Ellen Barkin has claimed Johnny Depp was a 'jealous man' during their relationship.

As a part of Depp's defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, Depp's ex-girlfriend Ellen Barkin gave a pre-recorded deposition that was played in court on Thursday.

The 68-year-old Drop Dead Gorgeous actress said she met Depp around 1990 and their 'purely platonic' friendship developed into a 'sexual' relationship in 1994.

She claimed the relationship lasted 'several months' and they would visit each other's houses three or four times a week.

Both actors starred in the 1998 film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

She said: “He was drunk all the, most, a lot of the time.”

A lawyer representing Heard asked: “Did there come a time when Mr. Depp acted in a way that was out of control with you?”

Barkin replied: ‘Yes,’ and claimed: “Mr Depp threw a wine bottle across the hotel room in one instance, in Las Vegas while shooting Fear and Loathing. A fight was going on, between Johnny Depp and his friends in the room, the assistant.”

She could not remember if the bottle was full. She claimed the bottle did not hit anyone.

Barkin described their break-up and claimed there was a ‘big goodbye’, and she never heard from Depp again after that.

She claimed: “He's just a jealous man, controlling, where are you going, who are you going with? What did you do last night? I had a scratch on my back once that got him very, very angry because he he insisted it came from having sex with a person who wasn't him.”

Barkin’s testimony about the alleged bottle throwing incident was previously heard in Depp’s UK libel case against The Sun over an article that labelled him a ‘wife beater’.

During his trial against The Sun, Depp denied the incident took place.

Depp’s defamation lawsuit against Heard over a 2018 article in The Washington Post continued this week after a week-long break.

On Monday, Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez questioned the Aquaman actress about her pledge to donate her full $7 million (£5,613,300) divorce settlement to the ACLU and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

She admitted that despite claiming under oath in Depp’s 2020 libel case against The Sun that she had made the donations, she has not made the contribution.
