A senior Iranian security official just issued an alarming threat towards US President Donald Trump, as the conflict in the Middle East continues.

We're now on the tenth day of fighting (10 March) since the US and Israel sent strikes to Iran, killing the country's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has since carried out counterstrikes, including widespread missile and drone attacks, targeting American assets and allies, such as Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Recently, Trump, 79, has issued confident remarks on when the war will end, telling CBS News on Monday (9 February) that 'the war is very complete, pretty much' and the US is 'very far ahead of schedule'.

But despite this, the Republican leader also said on social media that if Iran stops the flow of oil in the Strait of Hormuz, America would make it ‘make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back.’

He wrote on Truth Social: "If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far."

Trump added: "Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again - Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them - But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen!

"This is a gift from the United States of America to China, and all of those Nations that heavily use the Hormuz Strait. Hopefully, it is a gesture that will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

Now, though, in response, Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has issued a stark warning of his own to Trump.

As reported by Metro, he said in a statement: "The Ashura-loving nation of Iran does not fear your paper threats. Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Watch out for yourself - lest you be eliminated!”

He later wrote on X: "Strait of Hormuz will either be a Strait of peace and prosperity for all or will be a Strait of defeat and suffering for warmongers."

Meanwhile, Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, also wrote on X: "We are definitely not looking for a ceasefire. We believe that the aggressor should be punched in the mouth so that he learns a lesson, so that he will never think of attacking our beloved Iran again."

It also comes as the United States Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, warned that today will bring the most intense day of strikes against Iran so far.

As per The Independent, he told reporters at a briefing: "We will not relent until the enemy is totally and decisively defeated. But we do so on our timeline and at our choosing. For example, today will be yet again our most intense day of strikes inside Iran."

While Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also said today that his country would keep on fighting as long as necessary.

“There needs to be a permanent end to the war,” he said, "Unless we get to that, I think we need to continue fighting for the sake of our people and our security."
