Charlie Kirk's wife Erika has broken her silence on his assassination, telling the world that his message will be 'louder and greater than ever' and that her 'cries will echo around the world like a battle cry'.

The 36-year-old delivered her first public remarks since the shooting, from the office where her late husband hosted his podcast - and fans noticed a heartbreaking detail.

Kirk was fatally shot on Wednesday (10 September) as he spoke to a crowd at Utah Valley University in Orem.

The incident happened with over 3,000 people in attendance. The 31-year-old was answering a question when a single shot struck him in the neck.

Two days later, on 12 September, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released updates about the shooting in a press conference, including the name of their suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.

And now, Kirk's wife Erika has spoken out on her husband's death with a poignant video message, shared on Saturday (13 September).

She began by thanking the local state and federal law enforcement 'who worked tirelessly to capture' her husband's suspected assassin 'so that he can be brought to justice'.

Erika said: "I want to thank the first responders who struggled heroically to save Charles' life and the police who acted bravely to make sure there were no other victims on that terrible afternoon.

"I wanna thank the officers who have protected our Turning Point USA family these past two days."

She continued her thanks, mentioning other staff members by name, including Kirk's employees who she said lost both a 'friend and a mentor', staff who helped him 'broadcast from this studio, from this chair, every day. He loved it. He loved what he did'.

And those viewing the livestream also noticed another tragic detail - Erika was standing next to her late husband's empty podcast chair, gripping onto it at times as she spoke.

Taking to Twitter after picking up on this, one user wrote: "This chair. Everyday. He loved it. He loved what he did." Erika Kirk reflects on the chair her husband sat in during his podcasts."

A second added: "Standing next to Charlie’s empty chair, Erika Kirk speaks for the first time on her husbands’ assassination."

While a third wrote: "Omg Erika Kirk is going to speak next to his empty chair," alongside a series of crying emojis.

Erika also thanked her husband's 'dear friend' Vice President Vance and his wife Usha for their 'love and support', as well as President Donald Trump, as she said: "I wanna thank President Trump and his incredible family for the same. Mr President, my husband loved you. And he knew that you loved him too."

She went on to issue a warning that the 'evildoers responsible' for her husband's assassination have 'no idea what they've done'.

Erika said: "They should all know this: if you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea what you just have unleashed across the country and this world.

"You have no idea of the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry."

She also talked about the moment she had to break the tragic news to her two young children.

"When I got home last night, Gigi, our daughter, just ran into my arms and I talked to her and she said: "Mommy, I missed you," Erika recalled.

She continued: 'I said: "I missed you too baby," and she goes "Where's daddy?"

"What do you tell a three-year-old? She's three. I said: "Baby, daddy loves you so much don't you worry, he's on a work trip with Jesus so he can afford your blueberry budget."
