An investigation into how two inmates in a Miami prison were able to successfully conceive a baby, has concluded something shocking.

Hold on to your hats, because this is going to be a wild ride.

What’s even crazier is that the two new parents had never even met in person yet managed to create new life.

Daisy Link, 30, and Joan Depaz, 24, are the proud mum and dad of a healthy little baby while they were both on remand awaiting trial for murder charges at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County, in Florida, US.

Link was charged with the murder her husband in 2022, as reported by Law&Crime.

Yesterday (October 17), Link was found guilty of second-degree murder, while Depaz has been handed a 25-year prison sentence after also being convicted of second-degree murder.

The pair’s cells were separated by an air conditioning vent, with one living upstairs, and the other downstairs.

While they never met, Link divulged she had wanted to become a mum, and soon, they hatched a plan to make it a reality.

When news of her ‘miraculous’ birth reached the ears of the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, they decided to get to the bottom of how this could possibly happen.

As it turns out, Link was in solitary confinement and had been awaiting trial when she fell pregnant in September 2023.

At first, officials were confused, until they DNA tested the baby, who matched with Depaz.

Even though the pair were separated by two floors, they realised that Depaz was sending his semen in Glad Wrap to Link through the ventilation system.

Link then inseminated herself using a yeast infection applicator.

Depaz had admitted sending his semen 'at least five times a day' for one month straight.

At three months pregnant, Link told officers she believed she was expecting.

“Link tells her mother she’s pregnant and that Joan is the father. She tells her mother that she planned to get pregnant because she was denied bond at the Arthur hearing on September 7, 2023,” court records seen by NBC Miami stated. “Link said she plans to sue the jail.”

On Christmas Day 2023, she was subjected to a ‘thorough medical exam’ which confirmed her pregnancy.

Link went on to claim that she it is 'a miracle baby', while Depaz compared her to the Virgin Mary while speaking to WSVN's 7Investigates.

“Being in isolation for so long you begin to spend hours and hours talking to this person, you know, to the point where it’s almost as if you’re in the same room with them,” she explained.

She said Depaz allegedly told her: “I always really wanted to have a baby. And I’m not gonna get to do that for a really long time. So if I had to choose somebody, you know, it would be you.”

“I can’t believe it worked. I think everything happened for a reason,” Link added. “She could be anything. I think that she’s gonna be something great.

"It’s a real twist it, it is. Everybody says it to me: 'This is like some Lifetime Movie Network'.”

Link managed to give birth to a healthy baby girl who is now over a year old and is currently living with her paternal grandmother.

Depaz was removed from the facility.
