Two inmates conceived ‘healthy’ baby in prison without ever meeting in person using bizarre method

People on social media are calling it 'The Shawshank Conception'

Two inmates in a Miami prison were able to successfully conceive a baby via a bizarre method using bedding, saran wrap, a yeast infection applicator and a string.

And the even more shocking element to this story is that the two new parents had never even met in person.

Defying all odds, Daisy Link, 29, and Joan Depaz, 24, managed to get have a baby while both serving sentences for separate crimes at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County, in Florida, US.

Link is charged with second-degree murder after she allegedly killed her husband in 2022, Law&Crime reports, while Depaz is being held on a seperate murder charge.

The pair, who had only spoken through an air conditioning vent connecting their upstairs and downstairs cells, formed a connection before Link revealed her dreams of becoming a mother.

The two then concocted a plan to make it happen when they realised they could send a small package through the vent they had been communicating through.

Depaz then decided to make Link's dream come true by passing her a glove containing his semen. He admitted doing this 'at least five times a day' for one month straight.

Link then used a yeast infection applicator to insert the semen into her vagina, which miraculously worked after a few attempts, resulting in a positive pregnancy.

The mum, who is still serving her sentence, called their child 'a miracle baby', likening herself to the Virgin Mary, while speaking to WSVN's 7Investigates.

“Being in isolation for so long you begin to spend hours and hours talking to this person, you know, to the point where it’s almost as if you’re in the same room with them,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Depaz allegedly told her: “I always really wanted to have a baby. And I’m not gonna get to do that for a really long time. So if I had to choose somebody, you know, it would be you.”

When they made their plan, Link said that Depaz remarked: "This is gonna go down in history."

After taking the pregnancy to full term, Link gave birth to a healthy baby girl who is now five-months-old and living with her paternal grandmother.

Dad Depaz has since been removed from the facility.

“I can’t believe it worked. I think everything happened for a reason,” Link added. “She could be anything. I think that she’s gonna be something great. "It’s a real twist it, it is. Everybody says it to me: 'This is like some Lifetime Movie Network'.”

The Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center is now conducting an investigation into this breach.
