Following the release of the shocking Britney Spears documentary Framing Britney Spears, people have called for former The Late Show host David Letterman to apologise to Lindsay Lohan from an interview in 2013.

A clip from the interview has been shared on TikTok. In the video, Letterman asks a series of probing questions about her personal struggles with alcohol, drug use and rehab in front of a live studio audience.

"Aren't you supposed to be in rehab right now?" Letterman asks.

He followed-up the question with: "How long will you be in rehab?"

Lindsay replies: "Three months."

Letterman then grills Lindsay about her previous visits to rehab. He says: "What are they rehabbing what is on their list? What are they gonna work on when you walk through the door?"

The live studio audience can be heard laughing in the background.

Lindsay, who is visibly uncomfortable at this point quips "We didn't discuss this in the pre-interview."

She then adds: "I think to be honest I'm the happiest when I'm working and the healthiest and I think this is an opportunity for me to you know focus on what I love in life and I don't think it's a bad thing I think it's a blessing."

A second clip from the same interview shows the talk show host asking: "Is it like alcohol? Do you drink too much?"

Lindsay shuts down the question and tries to re-focus the interview. She says: "We've discussed this in the past. We're here for a movie."

TikTok users flocked to the comments section after seeing the re-surfaced clip to call out Letterman's questions and to demand an apology for Lindsay.

One person wrote: "It's actually not funny that he's making fun of someone who has a substance abuse problem. The network should not have been okay with this."

Musician Madison Beer also commented, she said: "This is wrong on so many levels."

A fan said: "She handled this absurdity with class."

"He would never question a grown man in this woman," added another.

The Framing Britney Spears documentary sent shockwaves around social media since it finally aired in the US this week.

The doc which explores the controversial conservatorship pop sensation Britney has been tied to since 2008, also explored the her treatment by the media - with many now lambasting the sexist culture she endured throughout her career.

The documentary featured clips from a 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer, which saw Britney break down on air.

Viewers were left reeling after Sawyer quizzed Britney about her relationship with fellow pop star Justin Timberlake, appearing to put the blame solely on her shoulders for the well-publicised break-up.

Britney was also played an excerpt from the wife of the governor of Maryland, Kendall Ehrlich.

"Really, if I had an opportunity to shoot Britney Spears, I think I would," Kendall was recorded saying at the time - which left Britney visibly upset.

Framing Britney Spears has now seen a number of celebrities speak out for their support for Britney, with Sarah Jessica Parker and Miley Cyrus among the famous faces now urging for Britney to be released from her conservatorship.
