Because pets need pampering too.

After the year we've all had, most of us are in desperate need for a holiday - be it a staycation or a luxury round-the-world trip.

But while we're often all too ready to jet off somewhere new and exciting, our holidays away are notably less fun for our dogs, with man's so-called best friend often being packed off to a relative or the kennels.

However, with a 650 per cent rise in people looking to adopt a doggo in lockdown, more and more people may be looking to take their puppy pals on holiday with them - and now, there are a number of UK destinations that are pooch-perfect.

One such pet-friendly getaway is to the remote Wisteria Cottage in rural Wales. The cosy but luxurious hideaway welcomes up to three (well-behaved) dogs if you book their dog package with a minimum of three nights stay, and has plenty for both you and your pet to do.

Offering temporary dog tags, dog tick removers, toys, treats and even Pawsecco so your dogs can get in the holiday spirit, Wisteria Cottage features plenty of exciting activities for you and your pup.

With lakes, streams and waterfalls all nearby, the idyllic location provides some brilliant backdrops for a long dog walk. And that's not mentioning the number of pubs and sights to see that owners can get stuck in to.

If the Welsh countryside is not your scene, a trip down to Dorset may be a better fit for you and your pup.

Maybe the Blagfon Lower Barn is more for you (

Only six miles from the beatific Chesil Beach, Blagdon Lower Barn features a kennel plus an external tap for your dog to wash off after big days out. Fit for two dogs, the cottage also features a gorgeous open fire, a luxury welcome hamper and acres of land for you to explore.

But if you want to truly splash out and live in the lap of luxury with your dog, then we can't recommend the Lower Curscombe Barn more. At an eye-watering £904 with a minimum of three nights stay, the property features high-fences to stop more intrepid dogs from escaping, but also features abundant wildlife, six luxury double bedrooms and your very own stream for your pups to paddle in.
