A couple who served Maccies at their wedding have been hit with backlash, despite the unveiling of the takeaway delivery being met with a resounding cheer at the wedding itself.

There is so much planning that goes into a wedding. Where are you going to have? How many flowers do you need? Who are you going to invite?

And importantly, what are you going to eat?

Wedding food can be majorly expensive, especially if you’re opting for a full-on three-course dinner.

And even when you’ve splashed out on a spenny feast, you can practically guarantee there’ll be at least one guest will be complaining about dry chicken or bland tomato soup.

Well, one bride and groom went viral on TikTok with their iconic answer to this problem, as they treated their guests to a mega McDonald’s spread.

Unsurprisingly, it went down VERY well with those celebrating their big day.

Surprising their wedding guests in France, the fast food delivery replaced the usually formal meal and footage shows them announcing the news to the room.

Taking to the microphone, the bride motions to the back of the room, as everyone turns around to see the big reveal.

In walks a delivery driver carrying paper bags filled with McDonald’s - a sight that is met with a huge cheer.

Groom Thomas Billaudeau posted the video on TikTok, tagging McDonald’s Beauvais Tille in the caption.

“Thanks for the treat at our wedding,” he wrote.

The McDonald’s restaurant even commented underneath: “It was a pleasure to participate in this superb day.”

Not everyone on TikTok was a fan of their unusual choice of wedding caterer.

One wrote: "I hope it's a joke."

Another added: "Minimum wage marriage."

A third said: "McDonald's costs more than a normal wedding meal."

A fourth wrote: "Eating cold fries, awesome."

While another slammed: "I'm leaving immediately."

Most people loved the idea of serving up Maccies to wedding guests, though.

In a comment loosely translated from French, one person said: “Congratulations on your union! I'm sick of people who take out 30k loans to please others and then get criticized for it."

Another added: “It's simple, effective and at least it's okay, a small marriage, but nothing better. I did the same, except it was a kebab plate lol."

Someone else wrote: “I would rather eat McDonald’s at my wedding than go into debt for 25 years for a wedding.”

PREACH.

It seemed many people agreed with that particular comment, as it racked up more than 3,000 likes and 100 replies.

“Not wrong,” someone else agreed.

McDonald’s Beauvais Tille later shared the clip on its own TikTok page, saying: “Our McDonald's Beauvais Tille team was delighted to help make your wedding even more magical. Congratulations to the couple!”

‘Mcdo au mariage’ does have quite the romantic ring to it.
