There’s a messy fetish called ‘sploshing’ that you’ve probably seen on TV but didn’t realise it was the subject of arousal for some.
There are many different fetishes in the world, from feet, BDSM, food play, humiliation and so much more, there’s also something that includes two of the above and is its own subgenre that’s becoming more known about.
Sitophilia, the sexual arousal from food, has recently been spotlighted after it was revealed that there are some people that enjoy food in the bedroom.
According to Ocado, over a third of sexually-active Brits include food in their intimate moments, and get off on things like sticky and creamy things being incorporated.

I’m sure I don’t have to explain the reason.
But sploshing has been explained off the back of sitophilia, which focuses on messy, sensory play with food or other substances, as well as humiliation in some instances.

Have you seen someone get pied in the face on a game show, or slimed?
That’s what sloshing is, except it can be used as either sensory or humiliation play in the bedroom using food or materials like foam, honey, oil and much more.
According to sexologist Dr Jess O’Reilly, this is something some people use to change shameful experiences into ones that are pleasurable.
She said: "You can re-script experiences that are often laden in shame into experiences that produce pleasure.
"For some people [sploshing] can be highly erotic and for others, it can be a process of healing."
As for why it has become a popular trend to consume and play with food in the bedroom, Ayesha Hussain, co-creator of Pass The Porn, told Men's Health: "There are aspects of the mouth being a vessel that are inherently sexual. It opens, it’s moist, and when you get aroused, your mouth opens more and gets more lubricated."

“It can be anything: spaghetti, cucumbers, chocolate, etc,” Ayesha says. “Watch every movement, taste every smell, imagine their saliva accumulating, and go from there.”
Basically, it’s a sensory experience routed in sexual visualisation of the body, but also in finding shame to be kind of sexy.
Humiliation kinks are nothing new, and they’ve been around for some time.
From people enjoying being called names, to being shamed in public – there are many ways that humiliation comes in to play regarding sex and sexual arousal.
But now, we’re all just learning that food and substances can be integrated too.
As long as it’s consensual and safe- it sounds like everyone involved is enjoying themselves.
