A video of a woman claiming she has a minimum spend expectation for men to take her on a date has gone viral.

The Desirable Truth is a social media account putting real-life dating questions to couples, friends and single citizens.

In one of their latest TikTok videos, filmed in the Brickell neighbourhood of Miami, an unnamed woman has divided users’ opinions with her dating expectations.

Answering the question ‘What’s the most a man should spend on a first date’, the woman gave her honest response and explanation.

“If I’m going to get ready and use all my products to come out with you, I need like a minimum of $200 (£160).”

She went on to state that the amount was simply the ‘minimum’ she believed a potential partner should spend on her, and that she was actually ‘being nice’ with the cost.

The presenter then asked what ‘the man gets in return’ for forking out for the date, to which the interviewee replied: “My presence?”

“But aren’t you having his presence within you already?” the host questioned.

The woman claimed that to take her on a date, a man must spend a 'minimum' of $200.

Justifying her stance, the unnamed woman continued to say: “I hear you, but no. I mean like I’m here to get to know you, you invited me out.”

Later on in the video, the interviewee went on to ‘do the math’ and calculate how much it would roughly cost her to get ready for a date.

She said: “My moisturiser is $400, my eye cream is $300, my serum is like another $300, my make-up, you know, not included.

“So if I have to spend - you know, that’s my money. I’m spending my money on these products. I’m gonna use these products.

The presenter claimed that men don't owe women 'anything' if they are 'getting to know each other'.

“I’m gonna use these products and show up because it’s not like I’m gonna show up in sweats.”

To conclude the video, the presenter claimed: “A man doesn’t owe you anything if you’re just getting to know each other.”

Since being posted last week, the video has wracked up over 97,000 views and has collated more than 1,000 comments.

One TikTok user wrote: “I once went out on a date to a taco truck. I’m pretty sure my ex spent less than $10 on us… It was the most beautiful thoughtful date.”

A second said: “You have to go on a lot of first dates to find the right person. It's sick to pay 200 bucks for each one for example one date a week.”

“She's got a point,” replied another viewer.

A fourth commented: “I want no money from a guy. All I want is for him to be sincere and generous like taking me to McDonalds. I know girls that just want that as well.”

Another TikTok user believed that the woman wasn’t asking for too much from her potential date.

They asked: “Thought she was gonna say a crazy number $200 ain’t that bad.”
