An expert when it comes to all things hanky-panky has shared her insights on the new 'climaxxing' sex trend and has revealed the unexpected ways it can improve your health.

Now, we already know all about 'storybooking', 'gooning' and 'freak-matching' - but what does 'climaxxing' actually entail?

Well, according to Lemon Meyer, sex writer and editorial manager at erotic audio platform Bloom Stories, 'climaxxing' is all about prioritising pleasure and building moments of intimacy into your daily routine to support your wellbeing.

And it's not just sexual wellbeing, as whether we’re enjoying it solo or with a partner, intimacy can have some pretty major benefits for our physical and emotional health.

"It can be just as important as your morning green juice or regular gym session," Meyer told Tyla.

What are the benefits of 'climaxxing'?

Meyer outlines that we often underestimate the importance of sex and intimacy for our well-being, but, as we say, it can have so many benefits.

"Research shows that regular intimacy - whether that’s physical touch, eye contact, emotional closeness, or even enjoying erotica - can trigger strong physiological responses," she continued.

"These can lead to a range of benefits, including improved sleep, reduced stress, better mood, and stronger relationships. Making time for intimacy is crucial for our overall well-being, but it often slips down the to-do list."

How to start 'climaxxing'?

Meyer acknowledges that maximising pleasure can feel difficult if you’re battling a hectic work schedule, juggling family responsibilities, or just trying to keep up with the demands of modern life.

However, she outlines, 'climaxxing' is easier than most people think, adding: "It’s all about starting small and finding ways to attach little moments of intimacy to your existing habits. We call this 'intimacy anchoring'."

Examples of these include pencilling in 10 minutes of 'alone time' at the end of your lunch break before you dive back into emails on work-from-home days.

Equally, if you find yourself starting or ending the day with a 'quick' scroll through social media, you could swap this out for some mindful 'pleasure mapping', or spend time connecting with your partner and sharing your biggest fantasies.

"You don’t need hours to spare, or the fanciest new toys, just small pockets of time you can dedicate to connecting with your body and desires," Meyer highlights.

While the idea of 'scheduling intimacy' may not seem immediately sexy, the expert explains that 'building small, consistent moments of pleasure into each day can have a huge impact'.

"It removes pressure and can stop sex feeling like a chore, or just another item to add to the to-do list," she resolves. "When it becomes part of your daily routine, it can help support your wellbeing and deliver significant benefits for just about every area of your health."
