When you tell your friends and family that you're having a baby, you expect to be met with an influx of messages congratulating you.

But one woman claims her pregnancy announcement was ruined when a family friend responded to the wonderful news with a brutal text.

Taking to Reddit, the mum-to-be shared a screenshot from the shocking conversation and it's left the internet furious.

She started by writing: "I'm 3 months pregnant, we got married 4 months ago."

The woman went on to explain that while she is 'not overweight at all,' she was still fat-shamed.

A screenshot attached to the post shows two ultrasounds of her growing baby.

The friend replied to the snaps, writing: "Wow. Congrats!"

Now, most reasonable people would leave it at that, a simple message expressing that they're happy for you.

But, the family friend had to go and spoil it all by adding: "You looked fatter in your wedding photos. Now I know why."

Gobsmacked, the Redditor then responded: "I wasn't pregnant on my wedding day...."

Unsurprisingly, Reddit users were not happy and took to the thread to share their fury for the expectant mum.

One person wrote: "Who just says things like that? What, did they think you waited until now to share ultrasound photos? That's not a friend."

Another commented: "I can’t IMAGINE saying that to someone!"

A third simply said: "Bitter."

While a fourth shared their own story, writing: "Had something similar happen to me. I was about 6 weeks pregnant when my husband proposed. When we told my grandma at around 12 weeks, she just said 'Oh, that's why your stomach looked so huge in your proposal pictures!' Mind you, when I was about 16 weeks, I looked bloated at best..."

Luckily, the original poster's brother was quick to come to her defence after finding out about the text exchange.

"Don't worry," she added. "I showed this to my brother and he lost his mind, messaged the family friend and absolutely ripped him a new a*****e."

Speaking of friends ruining your big moment, another woman claimed she had to kick her best friend out of her baby shower over ongoing issues.

The 24-year-old explained on Reddit how her ‘close friend’ had recently started blowing off plans after she started dating a new man.

When the woman, who was pregnant at the time, told her friend how she felt, the friend offered to plan her baby shower.

But, on the big day, she broke the mum-to-be's one big rule - no partners.

After the friend showed up with her new beau, she asked him to leave.

Her friend said if he left, she would too so the woman was forced to kick them both out. Yikes!
