For those of us who are yet to ever get pregnant, the list of changes it can wage on your body are startling.

The Office for Women's Health lists all of the expected changes, from aching body parts, to swollen breasts, to extreme fatigue.

But as is often the case with social media, women are taking to their platforms to share the lesser-discussed parts of pregnancy - and they're so extreme some people are now swearing off pregnancy forever.

In the UK, the Office of National Statistics has illustrated that in 2021, there was the first increase in conceptions for women of all ages in England and Wales for a staggering six years - the most up to date numbers on record.

So it's clear that women have been weighing up whether or not pregnancy is worth is for quite some time - and it's hard to imagine these horror stories have helped the cause.

One user took to X to share her very own experience, which went viral due to the mind-boggling nature of it.

They wrote: "Oh cool I’ve reached the stage of pregnancy where there’s so much extra blood in my body that my eyeballs have changed shape and now my contacts don’t fit."

She followed up with the post: "Sharing this cursed knowledge with everyone because I’m just a giving person xoxo."

The National Library of Medicine confirms many changes may happen to the eyes during pregnancy, noting: "Increase in lens curvature may cause myopic shift.

"Therefore, new eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions should be avoided during pregnancy, and are best postponed until several months after delivery."

WebMD adds: "Many pregnant women retain fluids. This common side effect can change the thickness and shape of your cornea. That can lead to distorted vision.

"These changes usually go away after delivery or after you stop breastfeeding."

Suffice to say, many people were shocked - while others shared similar stories.

One person responded: "Brb I have to snort my entire pack of birth control."

Another said: "In my first pregnancy, I went to the optician who told me my optic nerve was being compressed due to the extra blood. Nightmare."

A third added: "Yup pregnancy and then breastfeeding turned me from long sighted to short sighted! I had no idea this could happen! It’s also permanently made my feet half a size bigger so I’ve had to sell all my old really cool trainers."

The more you know. As much as you might not actually want to know, that is.
