People are flooding to social media to applaud a flight attendant for helping a new mum with her 'screaming' baby.

The issue of screeching babies on flights has long left people divided - with some arguing there should be 'adult-only' planes and one man even letting rip at the parents of one baby over the noise.

While it can be impossible to catch some rest or relax during your flight if there's a child onboard, it's ultimately always going to be worst for the parent of said baby who is trying - and sometimes failing - to calm them down and who has to deal with dirty looks, sighs of disapproval and who probably hasn't slept properly in weeks themselves.

Thankfully for one new mum, a kind air hostess stepped in and helped out when her newborn began to scream.

Nashville indie singer songwriter Jessica Windsor has taken to TikTok to show her appreciation for the air hostess in question.

In the video, the flight attendant can be seen carrying Jessica's baby up and down the aisle, chatting away and rubbing him on the back as she goes.

The caption reads: "On flight 2890 yesterday this angel saved me on my baby’s first plane ride @robloxsouthwestair #southwestairlines #southwestair #nashville #flyingwithababy."

And people have flocked to the post in adoration of the flight attendant and in praise of the airline.

One TikTok user said: "I've had nothing but good experiences on southwest," while another commented: "I saw a video of a flight attendant saying she wished more moms would ask for help because most flight attendants want to play with the babies."

And a third wrote: "I needed to see this today. Taking my toddler on her first flight next week and I'm so worried. I don't want people to hate me if she cries at all."

While a final said: "I don't have kids yet and this makes my heart so happy. We need more people like her."

Other users called on Southwest Airlines to give the flight attendant a raise 'and recognition for wonderful top notch service'.

The air hostess has received an influx of praise online for her act of kindness.

Air hostess Jennifer told Tyla she 'does not understand' how the video has gone viral - "I was simply being friendly and helpful and this adorable baby he was just so upset, probably hot and probably tired."

Jennifer explains he looked like he just wanted a 'distraction' and 'change of environment' and so she asked the mum if she could take him and show him around, surrounding him with 'good energy' with the tones of her voice.

Jennifer encourages parents to hand over their babies to flight attendants when travelling.

She resolves: "We love them and love to hold them and through all the harshness we have to deal with through the day, holding a crying, innocent baby makes our day and we can see the relief on mom's face to get a little break."

Tyla has contacted Southwest Airlines for comment.
