One mum has completely divided opinion after admitting she throws out children's toys when they refuse to put them away.

The woman, Tabitha Marie, has made the bold statement of chucking out her little one's toys to teach him a valuable life lesson.

The controversial parenting style has gone viral after sending the internet into a total frenzy and re-opening the debate when it comes to disciplining and punishment. Check it out:

The mum took to TikTok to share with her 14.2k followers the latest antics in her family home.

Tabatha started the video with: "When you ask your child for two days in a row to clean his room," before panning to a shot of a bedroom that, quite frankly, looks like a total pig-sty."

She continues: "And his response is 'No, you clean it mommy'."

The TikToker then starts binning up the countless toys scattered across the floor after saying: "Okay, I will do that gladly."

"Trash here we come," the overlay text read.

She captioned the TikTok: "I hated seeing the look on his face when he seen his room. It hurt me just as much but my babies will not be disrespectful."

The overlay text at the end of the clip stated: "Momma is not raising no disrespectful men. It is not a 'mommies' job or 'women's' job to do anything."

She went on to write: "You make the mess, clean it up. You see momma struggling, help her. Don't sit there and let a women struggle period."

"My babies will learn this quickly."

The clip has since gone viral on the platform after receiving more than 3.5 million views with thousands upon thousands eager to share their reaction to the punishment.

Many were left totally outraged by Tabatha's video with one TikTok user writing: "Are you serious? He is 5 [years] old. It is your job to help him at that age.

"You cleanup the room TOGETHER. So clearly you are the lazy one. Poor child." Ouch.

A second popped their detective hat on and devised: "Judging by the toys, he's too young for that entire responsibility. If you want it clean start by helping him and then work up to him doing it alone."

Others, who fell victim to a similar treatment when they were little tots themselves weighed in on the matter.

"My mom used to do something similar at a very similar age," admitted another, "it traumatised me forever and in adult life cleaning is still an extremely stressful task."

Another individual who went through the ordeal themselves as a child had an entirely different perspective on the matter.

They penned: "I'm 18 and my mom did that when I was probably 10 because I refused. And after that week with no toys I learned real fast to clean after myself."

"Good job!"

While the clip clearly proved controversial for many - some fellow mums alike defended Tabatha's bold parenting style and supported the message she was trying to instil in her young boys.

"Good job mom!" praised one TikTok user. "People that don't agree, also have the kids that don't respect anyone, including their parents."

Tabatha later revealed in a follow-up TikTok that she actually didn't bin the toys and that she'd only pretended to do so in the hopes of teaching her son a lesson about respect and tidiness.

What do you make of it?
