People have spotted a glaring mistake in a woman's uplifting tattoo, and once you spot it you can't unsee it.

Getting a tattoo can be a hair-raising experience. Whether it's being worried about being ripped off by an unscrupulous artist, infections, or even just the pain of having the tattoo done, there's a lot to get through.

However, if you are going to have something on your body permanently it's probably a good idea to double check the design for any errors or hidden meanings before any ink goes goes into skin.

It seems that one woman may not have double checked the design before it became permanent. Her tattoo has a crucial flaw which you just can't get past once you've seen it.

The design features an inspirational message, saying 'you can let it go'. Above it there is an image of a hand, as well as what appear to be butterflies flying away.

The full tattoo design.

The tattoo was posted on Facebook Group Sucky Tattoos.

The page showcases tattoos which are either poor quality or have gone wrong in some way. It could be that the design has run, unfortunate spelling errors and unclear layouts, or designs which are just plain bad.

In this case, the lettering in the message had all been put in just fine. The problem wasn't so much there as in the image of the hand.

Admittedly, hands aren't always the easiest part of human anatomy to draw correctly. Anyone who has tried to sketch one and ended up with a drawing that looks more like a rubber glove stuffed with mashed potatoes than an actual hand can attest to that.

Unfortunately, it seems that in this case the artist had fallen into that trap. If you look closely then you can see instead of four fingers and a thumb, there's a sneaky sixth digit peeking out from the top of the hand. The positioning makes it difficult to determine which finger is the extra one, or where it originates from, but there's no denying it's there.

Facebook users took to the comments after seeing the fatal flaw in the design, which was captioned: "Gotta be hard to find gloves."

One wrote: "That tattoo must have been made by AI with them fingers." Another posted: "Hokey pockyness."

It doesn't even look like she will be able to conceal it effectively either. The design had been put right on her upper arm, which is easily visible in hot weather.

Let that be a warning, always double check the design before that tattoo gun gets switched on.
