Lipton has caused a huge stir after announcing its iconic Peach Ice Tea is being ‘discontinued’, with fans refusing to believe what they’re seeing... I’m one of them.

It's one of the most refreshing sips that can pass your lips, meaning it’s become a soft drink staple for many people over the years.

Sure, Lipton has a range of tempting varieties - from lemon, mint and lime, raspberry, and mango, as well as a green tea drink - but we all know there’s one that arguably sticks out from all the rest.

The almighty Peach Ice Tea is a beacon of hydration on a hot summer’s day, the revitalising beverage that completes your meal deal, a solid all-rounder that you’re always in the mood for.

The only thing is, Lipton’s telling us these days may be gone.

Posting a terrifying statement on social media, the drinks brand asked: “Who's joining my peach support group?”

The statement, titled ‘Rest in Peach’, read: “You may have heard that our iconic Peach Lipton Ice Tea flavour is getting discontinued. We know – it hurts (sorry if we’re ruined your go-to afternoon chill bev).

“But don’t worry, the rest of your faves are still here to keep you refreshed. And who knows? Maybe one day, Peach will make a legendary comeback.

“We appreciate your understanding during this period of adjustment and apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

Is it an early April Fool’s? Is the recipe just being updated? All of these questions have come rushing into fans’ minds in the desperate hope that the end isn’t really nigh.

One person fumed in the comments: “It’s the only flavour people like? Why are you doing this????? Delete and pretend you got hacked.”

This remark has more than 30,000 likes and counting, suggesting others are in agreement.

Someone else asked: “How tf does a company discontinue arguably its best seller.”

A third wrote: “Lipton this better be a joke for april 1st...”

A fourth added: “This is like Coca Cola discontinuing Coke.”

Others joked that they didn’t even know Lipton had ‘other flavours’, while some even wrote lengthy love letters to Peach Ice Tea.

“NAH U CANT DO THIS,” another raged in disbelief.

“THE MOST REFRESHING BEVERAGE TO EVER TOUCH MY MOUTH ITS A BLESSING IN A BOTTLE DONT DO THIS.”

Could it really be? We’ve reached out to PepsiCo, which owns Lipton, to find out if they’re having us all on, or if there’s anything we can do to change the drink’s fate.

In the meantime... get praying, people.
