The extra part of a shopping trolley people have ‘never seen’ before is blowing minds

Do you know what the hoops are for on your shopping trolley?

Prepare to have your mind blown.

Turns out we've been using supermarket trolleys wrong this whole time - and you'll be stunned when you realise why.

One mum on TikTok has revealed she's discovered a hidden feature on her shopping trolley - and we'd never even noticed it before.

Gemma Bird, who goes by the name Money Mum on TikTok, showed off the feature in a video to followers.

After discovering the extra part, Gemma claimed her shopping experience would never be the same again.

At the start of the video, she pointed out two rather large hoops on the trolley.

She then asked over the video: "Did you know what they were for?"

The mum proceeds to show that the loops - which we have to admit we've never thought too much about before - can be used to stop your flowers and other long, squashable objects from getting ruined by your shopping.

"Is it just me or did you realise these existed on trolleys? I'm still in shock!" She said.

Gemma wasn't the only one surprised by this seemingly hidden trolley function, as the video has already caught the eye of thousands of TikTok users.

One joked: "I thought they were for wine," while a second suggested a handy way to get the most of out of them, writing: "Flip it round so its in the small section then put the flowers etc in."

And a third user elaborated: "Yep. Some have a space below for big packets."

It's worth noting that some users have claimed the hoops are only a feature in certain 'older' trolleys.

So if you're at the supermarket this weekend wondering why your trolley doesn't have them, that could be why.

ICYMI, people have also been discussing what the hook is for on the back of every trolley.

The hack was discussed by Woolworths Australia back in 2023.

In a short video, a Woolworths employee said: "Woolworths trolley hack.

"On the back of every trolley there is a courtesy hook so you can hang your hat or your reusable bags, so you don't have to carry them around the store."

Many have taken to the comment section of the TikTok, with some admitting that they never realised the hook was a thing.

One person said: "I was pleased when I discovered that hook. And I do hang my shopping bags there."

Did you notice this?
