Elliot Page recently revealed the advice he would give to his younger self, and it's got fans feeling a bit emotional.

It's a been a very public couple of years for Elliot Page, who came out as transgender in 2020.

Page, 37, who starred in Netflix's Umbrella Academy, recently spoke out on advice he would give to his younger self if he could, as he joined non-profit organisation American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) outside of the Supreme Court in a bid to advocate for trans youth.

Having released his memoir Pageboy in 2023, the star who once admitted to feeling a lot of 'shame' around his identity, has since been a strong voice in the LGBTQ+ community, sharing his story and advocating for change.

"Shame had been drilled into my bones since I was my tiniest self, and I struggled to rid my body of that old toxic and erosive marrow," Page wrote.

In a video shared to the ACLU Instagram back in December, Page made a moving admission about what he would say to his younger self given the chance: "My message to my younger self would be, just like, 'You know who you are, and please embrace that.'

"I understood my truth.

"I felt it very strongly and it was all of these external forces and noises that pushed and pulled, and made me sort of lose track of who I was.

"I guess to my younger self I'd say that the discomfort and pain you're feeling - that is not yours. That is theirs. And to just keep going on the journey of embracing who you truly are.

"That what's going to lead you to happiness," Page concluded the strong message.

Fans were quick to flock to the comments and praise Page for his words.

One wrote: "What a peaceful, loving response. Such a king and role model."

"Such wonderful intelligent words," a second said.

Another added: "Thank you for living in your truth and liberating yourself. You know who you are more than anyone else in this world. Thank you for sharing your story it could save a life."

Page shared with the world that he was transgender in 2020, and shortly after let everyone in on his journey transitioning.

At the time, he penned a letter to his social media that read: "Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life."
