With the world in lockdown, we're not the only ones limited to one government-approved walk per day - our doggos are too!

Yep, right now our furry companions are living on a limited exercise allowance.

For that reason, it's never been more important to ensure our beloved dogs are keeping fit and utilising their muscles.

That's why premium raw pet food brand, Natural Instinct, has teamed up with Flexipaw Fitness to launch a brand-new series of home workouts for dogs.

Dubbed Canine Fitness at Home, the online series aims to keep the nation's canines fighting fit.

Genius! We're already envisioning our pooch in dog-sized 80s aerobics gear.

So how do the home workouts work?

Canine Fitness Expert Alison Pearce will lead UK pet owners and their dogs in a series of four easy-to-follow, effective and free workouts.

Conveniently, all workouts can be streamed directly into the home.

The videos will be published by Natural Instinct via its Facebook page and will include a variety of pooch-appropriate fitness routines.

It won't be long before you and doggo are enjoying a spot of circuit training or gym sessions, before you chill out with some calming stretches. Downward facing dog, anyone?

Alison's workouts are suitable for all breeds, no matter the size or fitness level.

The workouts don't only have physical benefits. With increased time indoors, we need to look after our dog's mental health too.

Right now, the usual activities of running, digging, sniffing, playing and foraging are limited - so we need to find other ways of improving our pets' quality of life!

To support with this, Alison will be sharing a tutorial on mind games owners can play with their furry companions.

Alison Pearce commented, "It's important to try to manage our dogs' physical and mental health during this time. Their routine has changed too. Not getting the same level of exercise may result in hyperactivity, muscle loss, weight gain and with some dogs, compulsive or destructive behaviour.

"Exercises at home will help to give your dog a routine, maintain your dog's weight and build muscle strength ready for when we can go back out on those long walks.

"Our dogs love to be in our company and spending quality time with your beloved pet in this way will build on your already strong bond, and you'll find they will thrive from the 1-2-1 interaction."
