The nation’s hearts were collectively broken after the tragic loss of Hairy Bikers star, Dave Myers, following his death last month.

66-year-old Dave had been battling cancer for two years prior to his death.

Whilst Dave was open about his cancer diagnosed, he opted to keep the specific type of cancer private, in order to stop people speculating about his outcome.

“I don’t want newspapers to run a lottery on how long I’ve got to live. That’s not what I want. I felt so guilty because of the effects it’s having on my wife”, he said at the time.

Following his passing, his wife, Liliana Orzac, and Hairy Bikers co-star Si King led the emotional tributes on the Hairy Bikers official Instagram.

Liliana said: "I feel I’m grieving with a whole nation… and this is something special. My wonderful Dave."

Si’s tribute included: “My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.

"I wish you God’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world.”

Fans eyes will be filling with more tears tonight, as the last episode of The Hairy Bikers Go West, is set to air.

The final episodes were filmed just months before his death.

It’s deeply emotional, as Si and Dave talk in depth about living with cancer and gruelling chemotherapy.

For the final part of their journey, the Hairy Bikers travelled to Devon and Dorset.

“We planned to go west, mate, and we made it," Si tells Dave.

Dave replies: “We have, and it’s been tough at times.”

Dave then opens up about his battle with cancer and addresses the camera: “I had chemotherapy all the time we’ve been filming. It hasn’t been easy… (but) we’ve got there, and it’s just a wonderful feeling."

Si then struggles to hold back tears as he says: “We’ve done it, and more importantly, he’s done it.

“I’m his mate and I love him like family and a brother. It’s… I’m just lost for words.

"It’s quite remarkable, what he’s done.”

Dave manages to give an update on his health before the cameras stop rolling on the last episode.

He poignantly remarks: “Who knows what the future holds? But for the moment, I’m living in the present and it’s pretty fine, I tell you."

Dave then kisses Si on the cheek and says ‘I love ya’.

The episode ends with a note of remembrance for Dave that reads: “In loving memory of our friend Dave Myers. 1957-2024."
