Shannen Doherty reveals she had heated fight on set of Beverly Hills, 90210 with Jennie Garth

Two of her co-stars had to intervene to calm things down

Shannen Doherty has revealed she once had a heated fight on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210 with one of her co-stars, thanks to a prank that backfired.

Doherty, 52, starred in the hit teen series as Brenda Walsh, but left after season four when her character was written out.

She regularly discusses her time on the show in her Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty podcast, speaking about everything from her sudden departure to the dynamic she had with co-stars.

In her latest episode, she recalled a time she got into an unexpected argument with Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor.

Speaking to their fellow former castmate, Brian Austin Green – known for starring as Kelly’s step-brother David Silver – Doherty said there was a day on set where Garth was playing a practical joke on the crew.

While the joke may have seemed harmless enough, some of the staff ended up getting ‘pretty annoyed’ with it, so Doherty decided to come up with a prank in return.

She explained: “[Jennie] was doing, she was calling it ‘Pants Down Day’ where she would pull the pants on some of the crew members in a funny way and some of them were getting pretty annoyed with it.”

“And then I reversed it and I said, ‘Skirt up day.'”

Doherty continued: “And she always wore the men’s Calvin Klein boxer shorts under her clothes.

“So I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. And so I did ‘Skirt Up Day’ and oh, my God, she lost it on me and I was just not in the mood to back down."

The heated spat was something Green, 50, also remembers, saying he and Steve Sanders actor Ian Ziering had to step in to intervene.

“I remember at one point when there was a fight out front and Ian and I were there,” he said.

“And so, we were the two that stepped into, kind of, the middle of it to keep it from escalating.”

Green also claimed there was often tension between the female cast members, which he said was ‘not an easy situation to watch’, adding: “I remember it got really rough and competitive for you all,” he added.
