Brian Austin Green has candidly revealed how he and Megan Fox have called time on their relationship after a 10-year marriage.

Marrying in 2010, and dating for six years before that, the couple have three children together, Noah, seven, Bhodi, six, and Journey, three.

The actor, 46, announced the news on the latest episode of his podcast where he said he foreshadowed the couple's split in a dream when his wife Megan, 34, was working on a film last autumn.

He admitted the couple had agreed to spend some time apart.

"I will always love her. And I know she will always love me and I know as far as a family what we have built is really cool and really special," the Beverley Hills 90210 actor said.

"It sucks when life changes and something that you're used to, that you've been doing for 15 years, you try and not get rid of but you change.

"There's the unknown aspect. There's that pit in my stomach. I really don't want Megan and I to be at odds, she's been my best friend for 15 years and I don't want to lose that."

Brian said that when Megan returned home from shooting, he found his wife to be a little distant, before she eventually admitted she felt "more like herself" when she was away.

He explained: "She said, 'You know, I realised while I was out of the country working alone that I feel more like myself, and I liked myself better during that experience, and I think that may be something worth trying for me.'"

"I was shocked and I was upset about it, but I can't be upset at her, and I wasn't upset at her because that's, she didn't ask to feel that way, it wasn't a choice she made, that's the way she honestly felt."

Megan had been linked to her Midnight in the Switchgrass co-star Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker) after the pair were spotted in his car getting coffee together, but the Transformers actress insists they're just friends.

"She met this guy, Colson, on set... I've never met him. Megan and I have talked about him. They're just friends at this point."

He went on: "I trust her judgment, she's always had really good judgment. I don't want people to think her or he are villains or that I was a victim in any way."

Megan and Brian met on the set of Hope & Faith and began dating in 2004. The couple attracted some controversy at the time as she was 18 and he he was 30.

The pair married in 2010, but Megan filed for divorce in 2015. They reconciled a year later and have been together ever since their split this year.
