MAFS UK viewers convinced they’ve seen Lacey’s mum on another iconic show

Married at First Sight UK viewers sure are an eagle-eyed bunch, having realised that Lacey Martin’s twin sister Paige was on another reality show.

Paige recently popped up in the ‘meet the family’ segment, having been joined by her mum to treat newlyweds Lacey and Nathan to a home-cooked meal.

Things took an awkward turn when it transpired that chicken fajitas were on the menu – not ideal for Nathan, who is a vegetarian.

After he was asked to help chop up the chicken, he joked that the food looked awful, in turn prompting Lacey and Paige’s mum to burst into tears.

But it wasn’t the waterworks that some fans were talking about, as people realised they recognised Paige from her stint on ITV’s Dress to Impress.

But some people reckon she’s not the only one with a TV background, believing that her mum also looked strangely familiar.

“I thought I recognised her #MAFSUK,” one tweeted, sharing a clip from a very famous episode of Come Dine With Me.

In the clip, a contestant called Heather kicked off about coming in fourth place – that's second last – as she read out the final scores.

“I don’t believe this,” she fumed.

“I really don’t. You put me fourth.”

As others sniggered, she continued: “No, seriously, I think you all have really, obviously given me a low score, and I’m really sad about that. You’ve really peeved me off, actually.”

Spotting the link, someone else tweeted: “#MAFSUK #Lacey witch mother was on Come Dine with me finished last so her food is s***e!! She struggled to cope with the fact that she was 4th they’re desperate to be on tv!!!”

Another commented: “Omg, was she the one who read the results and kicked off?! I remember that episode.”

However, I hate to burst your bubble, but... Lacey’s mum and Heather are not the same person, despite similarities in their appearance.

“I fully thought it might be for a hot sec but the eyebrows are different,” one person explained on Reddit.

“Hair is so similar though and I think this woman from cdwm was also quite unhinged.”

Indeed, Come Dine With Me’s Heather Horsfall is based in Herefordshire, while Lacey – and presumably her family – live in Buckinghamshire.

Lacey and Paige’s mum also appears to be called Maxine Martin, so they are, without doubt, two different people.

After Maxine copped some heat for her chicken fajitas (and the teary reaction to Nathan’s joke), her daughter’s new partner took to Instagram to remind others to be kind.

“Hey gang would just like to do a quick post, thank you for all the lovely messages!” he said in an Instagram post.

“But it’s important to remember to be kind and remember it’s an experiment.”

Nathan continued: “I believe Lace’s mum was unaware that I was a vegetarian at the time and I unfortunately didn’t have anything in the fridge lmfao.

“But it was all squished briefly after followed by a quick embrace, there’s no hard feelings at all so keep it positive vibes!”

Lacey had also spoken out on Instagram to explain that her mum simply hadn’t known about Nathan’s veggie diet, reminding people that the show is ‘edited for entertainment’ and that they should ‘take it with a pinch of salt’.

She also told people that they hadn't seen her, her mum and Nathan 'all cuddling', as they will have only seen a small chunk of their time together.
