Final Destination fans have vowed never to step foot near an MRI machine after a terrifying scene in the newest movie, Final Destination Bloodlines.

The film hit cinemas last week and has so far been smashing records at the box office.

In fact, it had the best opening weekend out of all the Final Destination movies, hitting $51 million during its opening weekend, Variety reports.

Now, if you're sitting down to watch any of the Final Destination movies, you'll know it's not going to be particularly pleasant viewing.

But those who have watched Bloodlines have been left disturbed by one scene in particular.

In fact, some are saying they'll never be able to even look at an MRI machine again.

It's been 14 years since Final Destination 5, with Bloodlines serving as a prequel to the five other films.

As per the rest of the franchise, terrifying deadly accidents begin occurring, including a truly shocking encounter with an MRI machine.

In the scene, Erik and Bobby Campbell come to an unfortunate end when an MRI machine malfunctions.

In case you didn't know, an MRI is a medical scanner that uses strong magnetic fields to create images of the inside of the body.

The machines use high strength magnets, therefore if you have any metal within your body - such as a pacemaker - it's important to inform doctors beforehand.

The NHS explains: "Having something metallic in your body doesn't necessarily mean you can't have an MRI scan, but it's important for medical staff carrying out the scan to be aware of it.

"They can decide on a case-by-case basis if there are any risks, or if further measures need to be taken to ensure the scan is as safe as possible."

After understanding that important context, the fact that the MRI machine malfunctions in the scene and is somehow cranked up to full magnetic strength, is a pretty clear sign that something horrendous is about to happen.

Moments later and Erik's piercings are ripped from his body before he is flung across the room and into the scanner, which essentially swallows him whole after he becomes stuck between the machine and a wheelchair, ripping out his insides on the way.

While it seems that Bobby might escape unharmed, he is then impaled by a vending machine spring, much to the nurse's utter horror.

People were left traumatised after watching the scene at cinemas, with many calling the movie the best yet.

One person wrote: "#FinalDestinationBloodlines is the freshest and most innovative Final Destination yet. That 60s-inspired opening disaster? Pure cinematic gold. New fears unlocked (looking at you, MRI machines)."

While another said: "I will never look at an MRI machine the same way again."

And a third added: "MRI scene will stay with me forever."

And a fourth added: "#FinalDestinationBloodlines is probably my favorite Final Destination along with or after the 3rd. Such a bloody blast and so funny lol! That MRI scene was an all timer!"
