Real reason why Ant and Dec cover up their watches on I'm A Celeb

Real reason why Ant and Dec cover up their watches on I'm A Celeb

Eagle-eyed fans noticed something odd about the hosts watches when watching last night's episode.

It's the show everyone is talking about.

The 2023 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has had viewers slapping knees with laughter, wiping their tears after sorrowful stories, and shocked by three star-studded departures - and the show is only half-way through!

During last night's instalment, we saw This Morning presenter Josie Gibson succumb to her extreme fear of spiders during the 'Barbaric Barbershop' Bushtucker Trial, and were inspired by Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson's ADHD diagnosis story.

But one feature from last night's show has still got everyone talking today, after a handful of eagle-eyed viewers cleverly noticed that hosts Ant and Dec had the faces to their watches covered with plasters, whilst presenting the dreaded trial.

"Is Ant's watch covered because of cameras or because of the sun reflection? @antanddec or am I seeing things?" one puzzled fan penned on X, formerly known as Twitter.

A second admitted: "I don't get why do Ant & Dec have their watches always covered #ImACeleb."

Well, it turns out that there's actually a very important reason why the duo have their accessories disguised.

Following the flood of questions, the official I'm A Celeb social media account last night set the record straight.

"Ant & Dec's watches are covered to stop the celebs finding out what time it is," ITV bosses explained. "They have no idea, as no clocks in camp."

This revelation comes after ex-contestant Scarlett Moffatt opened up on time keeping Down Under during a 2017 interview on I'm A Celebrity: Extra Camp.

"It's so the campmates don't know the time, so all the watches are covered for the people that see the campmates all the time, like Ant, Dec and Medic Bob," Scarlett explained.

"I think it’s just so you’re really disorientated, like we had no concept of time."

The jungle news comes just hours after card retailer Moonpig came under fire for making light of an extremely sensitive subject brought to light by contestant Nella Rose earlier in the series.

The YouTuber first hit headlines for her controversial feud with First Dates star Fred Sirieix, whom she believed was mocking late dad when he said he was old enough to be her father.

Now, sadly, the wave of backlash that the 26-year-old star received has led certain brands to cash in on her misfortune, with Moonpig launching a birthday card featuring her face.

The card, which appears to 'mock' the star, features a birthday message which read: "I’m really offended that it’s your birthday."

The card has caused quite a stir.

It also features a cartoon of Nella's face looking disgusted.

People have been quick to critique the card, with one fan penning on social media: "Yeah, never using @MoonpigUK ever again."

Another wrote: "So Nella’s going to come out of the jungle and see corporations like @MoonpigUK mocking the trauma she’s faced losing both of her parents recently? Cool."
