Netflix viewers praise new rom-com series for 'perfect' scene cut from original movie

Netflix viewers praise new rom-com series for 'perfect' scene cut from original movie

This 'intense' scene has stayed in the new Netflix series

Netflix fans have been going wild for new drama series 'One Day', which only landed a few days ago but has already been described as 'perfect' by viewers.

Check out the official trailer for One Day here:

The Netflix limited series tells the decades-spanning love story of protagonists Dex, portrayed White Lotus star Leo Woodall, and Emma, played by This is Going to Hurt's Ambika Mod, as we catch up with them on the same day every year. It's a cute romantic storyline that follows David Nicholls' 2009 worldwide bestselling novel One Day, which was originally adapted into the 2011 feature film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.

However, fans are saying the new drama series is better than the film thanks to one crucial scene.

Spoilers ahead.

A scene featuring the two main characters Dex and Emma coming together after attending a wedding and walking home in a maze never quite made it into the 2011 film, but it has thankfully made it into the Netflix version and fans are delighted it's stayed.

The Netflix series has kept the maze scene, which sees Dex and Emma coming together.

Taking to social media after the romantic series landed earlier this week, they've been ecstatically sharing the scene in question. One viewer wrote: "WE GOT THE MAZE SCENE!!!"

Another shared: "The maze scene was perfection. No notes. Everything from the book, and what I pictured in my head and more. Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod, the people that you are! The chemistry was chemistrying through the roof with these two."

A third added: "The maze scene, was so insanely intense."

The series is also quickly becoming a favourite as fans go on the rollercoaster romance with Dex and Emma meeting once a year and their friendship erring on possible romance over the years. This drama is one of those with literal years of will-they-won't-they drama, as the pair insist they're just friends, while everyone around them knows this is absolutely not the case and ultimately they are perfect for each other.

One Day landed earlier this wee (8 February) but has already won over fans with its version of the 2009 book.

The twists and turns of the series has already hooked viewers as they experience the same heartbreak and longing that characters Emma and Dex go through, with many taking to social media to share their reactions as they binge through the series in a matter of days.

One viewer praised: "I'm only halfway through episode one of One Day but Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod have insane chemistry."

"This adaptation is so good already I feel sick," revealed a second, while a third chimed in: "This is definitely a must watch!!"

One Day is currently available to stream on Netflix.
