Viewers praising 'unhinged' Netflix Christmas movie as the 'perfect' festive watch

We're a little over a month away from the big day now, and I'm sure many of us are getting into that festive feeling by watching all the best Christmas movies.

However, if you're wanting a break from the classics like Love Actually and The Holiday, Netflix is definitely the place to go to if you're after something a tad more... modern.

And after watching one of the streamer's choices from their vast selection of Crimbo-themed flicks, viewers are rushing to social media to praise it in their masses as the 'perfect' festive watch.

The film in question features a handful of very familiar faces, including the likes of Lacey Chabert - AKA Gretchen Wieners from Mean Girls - alongside Schitt's Creek star Dustin Milligan and Brooklyn 99's Craig Robinson and Joe Lo Truglio.

The plot follows widow Kathy Barrett (Chabert) who, two years after losing her husband, magically brings a handsome snowman (Milligan) to life.

The snowman's innocence helps Kathy laugh, feel, and love again, as the two fall for each other just in time for the holidays... before he melts.

Think of it as 2024's answer to Frosty the Snowman.

If you've not yet guessed it, the film in question is none other than Hot Frosty, and you can watch the official trailer here:

One X user penned: "Watched Hot Frosty on Netflix yesterday + the joy I felt from the sheer ridiculousness of it is everything I want in a holiday rom-com.

"The fact we're all rooting for lacey to fall in love with a SNOWMAN is UNHINGED! 5 stars!"

A second praised: "This year's crop of Netflix Christmas movies is impeccable.

"There's a [...] movie called Hot Frosty which is basically the story of Frosty the Snowman but if he was hot."

"#HotFrosty is a Netflix holiday movie where Ted from Schitts Creek is a snowman who comes to life and moves in with Gretchen from Mean Girls," gushed a third.

"Oh, and Charles and the Pontiac Bandit from #B99 run the town Sheriff’s Dept. It’s real. It’s perfect. Please watch it. Out tomorrow."

A fourth echoed: "Hot Frosty on @netflix was suuuuch a cute Christmas movie."

"This Hot Frosty on Netflix is so over-the-top cringe I can’t stop watching," chirped another.

And a final X user admitted: "Hot Frosty on Netflix is the Christmas movie shamelessness that I thoroughly encourage."

Well, that's this weekend's plans sorted!
