We're less than a month in 2024 and we've already been given a whole bunch of cracking TV shows to devour while we try to cure those January blues.

From Harlan Coben's über popular Fool Me Once to the highly anticipated crime-drama starring Sofía Vergara - armchair critics all over have been cosying up to all the best latest releases Netflix has to offer.

However, there are hidden gems on the platform from years back that some are yet to binge, with many viewers now rushing in to share their praise for the 'disturbing' thriller starring Gillian Anderson and Fool Me Once’s Emmett J. Scanlan.

The series follows Anderson as a detective superintendent who is 'battling her own personal demons' while trying to 'get inside the head' of a serial killer.

The thriller in question, The Fall, originally first aired from 2013 all the way up until 2016.

Set in Northern Island, the series follows Metropolitan Police Superintendent Stella Gibson (Anderson), a senior investigating officer who takes a look at the progress of a murder investigation in Belfast that's been active for more than 28 days.

With the serial killer - known as the ominous Belfast Strangler - still on the loose, local detectives must work with Stella to find and capture Paul Spector, played by 50 Shades of Gray star, Jamie Dornan, who is attacking and killing innocent young women in the city.

While attempting to build a case, the team are met with complications inside the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

Fans have since rushed to social media to share their praise for the 17-episode series with one X (formerly Twitter) user writing: "Jamie Dornan looks amazing. The last season is so disturbing...The Fall is a work of art!"

A second penned: "Binge-watching The Fall on Netflix. Gillian Anderson is absolutely delectable!"

"I’ve started watching The Fall on Netflix and Gillian Anderson is really too perfect for words, isn’t she?" echoed a third.

While a fourth chimed in: "If you're looking for a new crime/serial killer drama, look no further than The Fall on Netflix. Gillian Anderson is absolutely incredible as is the show itself."

The Fall is currently available to stream on Netflix.

A final Twitter user added: "Finished watching The Fall on Netflix. Really good from start to finish.

"The acting from Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan was superb. Shame that their won’t be another season but for me kinda finished perfectly. If you haven’t seen it, watch it!"

Well, I know what I'll be watching this weekend.
