People are obsessed with the gripping Ashley Madison scandal

Last week (15 May), a brand-new documentary dropped on Netflix titled Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal.

The three-part doc, which has already climbed to the prestigious 'No. 2 in TV Programmes Today' spot, follows the scandal of how hackers exposed the details of over 30 million unfaithful married couples back in 2015.

Now, for some context, Ashley Madison launched in 2002 and made worldwide news when a group of anonymous hackers, known as 'The Impact Team', leaked the sensitive information that ruined marriages and outed cheaters.

However, even after all that, the online dating website is still up and running to this today, with the tagline: "Life is short. Have an affair."

After rattling through the doc, it's clearly Netflix viewers are looking elsewhere for another fix of the Ashley Madison drama with many now claiming a second documentary about the 'insane' cheating scandal is even better than the first.

Before the Netflix doc, Hulu put out a three-episode miniseries titled The Ashley Madison Affair in 2023 also exploring 'the rise and fall of the scandalous and notorious dating platform'.

And it seems some people are loving the Hulu version way more than the recent Netflix one, with many rushing to social media to share their thoughts.

"Idk why Netflix did a Ashley Madison doc when Hulu did one last year," penned one X user.

A second chimed in: "Ok so apparently there a Hulu version of the #ashleymadison scandal so now I wanna know what's the difference between Hulu and Netflix."

"The Hulu Ashley Madison doc was way better than Netflix imo," hit out a third, "Netflix focused wayyy too much on that one couple."

A fourth quipped: "Agreed - I like the Hulu Ashley Madison doc better thus far (saw the Hulu one a while back. On episode 2 of the Netflix one now).

"I don't even follow those two people and I could easily tell this would end with them staying together."

Another cryptically added: "Now watching the Hulu doc about Ashley Madison to compare to the Netflix one. All I can say is I have a LOT of thoughts..."

And a final Twitter user echoed: "Hulu had a better Ashley Madison doc.

"I remember Sam and Nia from when their toilet water video went viral. It was so obviously staged and their personas are phony.

"Nia would forgive anything because she likes the influencer lifestyle more than Jesus. It’s giving Anna Duggar."

Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal is currently available to stream on Netflix.
