Miley Cyrus slams Grammy awards after winning for first time ever at this year's ceremony

Miley Cyrus took home the Record of the Year award for her song 'Flowers' at this year's Grammy Awards

After bagging her first-ever Grammy this year, Miley Cyrus is now ready to tell us how she really feels about the awards body - and she didn't hold back.

The 31-year-old singer and songwriter has been in the music industry for two decades, having shot to fame as a child star following the success of Disney's Hannah Montana.

Miley had to battle accusations of being a bad role model following her Bangerz era as well as a highly-publicised divorce from actor Liam Hemsworth.

This year, she won two Grammys for her song 'Flowers', including the much-coveted Record of the Year.

The bop seemingly addresses her divorce and celebrates self-love.

When accepting the gong, Miley quipped: "This award is amazing, but I really hope that it doesn’t change anything, because my life was beautiful yesterday."

And although it seemed like everyone was piling the praise onto Miley for her Grammys success, it seemed the star had a slightly different take - as highlighted in a new interview with W Mag.

The article, which was published today (3 June), sees Miley taking a no-holds-barred approach when asked about the illustrious ceremony.

She said: "No shade, but I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and this is my first time actually being taken seriously at the Grammys?

"I’ve had a hard time figuring out what the measurement is there, because if we want to talk stats and numbers, then where the f**k was I?

"And if you want to talk, like, impact on culture, then where the f**k was I? This is not about arrogance. I am proud of myself.”

The interviewer later asks Miley about her iconic performance of 'Flowers' at the Grammys ceremony, which has more than 39 million views on YouTube, and how she could have possibly have prepared for such a spectacle.

She responded: "I wrote on this dream board that I wanted to show up to the Grammys with a childlike confidence, like when a kid isn’t scared to just dive into the deep end or do a backflip because they don’t know what’s on the other side.

"My 12-year-old self got to come out and play, while my 31-year-old self was in [fashion designer] Bob Mackie with big hair."

She also shared that she gets scared about performing sometimes.

As for performing 'Flowers' at the Grammys, she shared: "I really wanted [it] to be a celebration of bravery, because I perform out of fear. I didn’t always have the fear of performing that I have now.

"But going from spending two years alone and seeing no more than one person a day during lockdown to knowing that millions of people watch the Grammys is a big shock to the nervous system.

"Anyone who’s ever put themselves in a position to be observed or judged is brave. It doesn’t matter if it’s eight or eight million people - that fear is there."

She concluded: "Before I went onstage, right as that curtain was about to lift, I was screaming at the top of my lungs, “I am free!”"

Hear hear.
