Miley Cyrus 'snubs' dad Billy Ray Cyrus in Grammys speech after winning record of the year

Miley Cyrus 'snubs' dad Billy Ray Cyrus in Grammys speech after winning record of the year

The 'Flowers' hitmaker failed to recognise her country singer father's support

All eyes were on Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena red carpet last night, as the biggest names in music flocked together to celebrate this year's GRAMMYs.

And it certainly was an evening for the books, after Taylor Swift made history for receiving the Album of the Year accolade more times than any other musician, Celine Dion made a surprise return following her recent health ailments, and the legendary Joni Mitchell received a standing ovation for her performance.

But as well as the colossal achievements and worthy winners commemorated during last night's big-name extravaganza, there were also several moments which had viewers at home cringing on their sofas.

One of these moments occurred during Miley Cyrus' acceptance speech, after the 31-year-old country-pop singer won Record of the Year for her hit 'Flowers'.

Miley thanked her 'mommy' Tish Cyrus, sister Brandi, and her 'love' Maxx Morando.

Someone that Miley failed to mention, however, is her fellow country star, Hannah Montana cast-mate and beloved father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

"Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular," she concluded her speech.

"So please don’t think that this is important — Even though it’s very important, right, guys?

"We are very excited. I want to thank everyone who is standing on the stage. I don’t think I forgot anyone, but I might have forgotten underwear. Bye."

Rumours of a rift from her 62-year-old father first began following her parents' 2020 divorce, after which Miley reportedly 'sided with' her mother Tish, going on to support her subsequent relationship and marriage to Australian actor, Dominic Purcell.

Miley went on to unfollow her father on social media before rumours began swirling they were no longer on speaking terms, following his marriage to singer Firerose (real name Johanna Rosie Hodges), who is 27 years his junior.

It isn't just us that picked up on 62-year-old 'Achey Breaky Heart' singer Billy Ray's absence from his daughter's speech, however, after a handful of viewers at home took to Twitter to speculate why he may have been left out.

"Omg Miley Cyrus thanked her mom but not Billy Ray Cyrus the rumors are true she so hates him LMAOOO #GRAMMYs," one fan penned on Twitter.

Another wondered: "So… why Miley Cyrus didn’t thank Billy Ray Cyrus but thanked her mom and whole team?"

"queen miley cyrus won her first grammy today and all i can think about is how her and billy ray cyrus no longer speak to each other," admitted a third.

This wasn't the only cringe-worthy moment from last night's A-list soiree, however.

Rap star Jay-Z hit the headlines for calling out GRAMMY bosses for wife Beyonce's lack of nominations this year.

"I don't want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year," he said in an awkward jibe whilst accepting his own Dr Dre Global Impact Award.

"So even by your own metrics, that doesn't work. Think about that."

Tell us what you really think, guys!
