Nicola Roberts teases Girls Aloud reunion is just 'days away' with cryptic post

She took to Twitter to share the news

OK guys - it's finally happening.

Fans all over have been buzzing to finally get their much-needed fix of some 2000s girlband music nostalgia.

And it seems we won't be having to wait much longer as Nicola Roberts has teased the eagerly-awaited Girls Aloud reunion is allegedly just a matter of 'days away'.

The 28-year-old 'Biology' singer, who is joined by Cheryl, Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh in the band, took to X yesterday (19 November) to share a fairly cryptic post on the matter. Check it out:

News of the reunion after over a decade comes just two years after the fifth member of the supergroup, bandmate Sarah Harding, sadly passed away from cancer in 2021, at the age of 39.

In case you're after some context, Girls Aloud first formed over two decades ago, back in 2002, after meeting on the ITV talent show Pop Stars: The Rivals.

They went on to release smash-hit after smash-hit, including tracks like 'Love Machine', 'Sound of the Underground', 'Something Kinda Ooooh' and 'The Promise'.

That final song was taken from their fifth and final studio album 'Out of Control', which first graced our iPods back in 2008 with the iconic music video set at a drive-in movie theatre, where Girls Aloud watch themselves performing as a 1960s girl group up on the silver screen.

Complete with retro Beehive hairdo's, some stunning sparkly gowns and copious amounts of eyeliner - I'm sure 'The Promise' is well and truly seared into all of our coming-of-age memories.

Now, just yesterday, Nicola posted an 11-second video directly referencing the black and white movie countdown seen at the start of 'The Promise' music.

The short clip showed the number '4' up on a vintage drive-in projector simply captioned with a single '4' emoji.

Fans have since taken the mysterious post as an update on the reunion now being only '4 days' away.

One Twitter user claimed: "Yessss 4 days!"

"If I see Kimberley tweet '3' tomorrow I will die," tweeted a second.

Some, however, took the '4' to reference the four remaining members of the band.

Could this be a reference to a four-day countdown?

"THE REUNION OMGGGG THE 'THE PROMISE' VIDEO REFERENCE + FOUR MEMBERS WE’RE READY QUEEN," gushed a third.

Regardless of what it meant, many clearly couldn't contain their sheer excitement.

"THEY’RE COMING!!!" penned a third while a fourth revealed: "I’m hyperventilating."

A final Twitter user echoed: "I’m bout to lose my sh*t."

Well, it's fair to say I think we all are.
