Tom Welling has spoken out after his picture of the New York City skyline appeared to reveal a lot more than he bargained for.
The 49-year-old actor shared a snap from a NYC hotel room ahead of his appearance at New York Comic Con. “Hello NYCC”, he captioned the photo.
However, eagle-eyed fans soon spotted something unexpected in the reflection of the glass and pointed out that the Superman actor appeared to be nude.
The photo quickly circulated on social media and the Instagram Story was deleted a few hours after it was posted.

Meanwhile, reports about the apparent faux pas also circulated and Welling appeared to poke fun at the situation, commenting “came for the sights” under a reel about the post.
Welling also shared a joke posted by his former co-star, Lex Luthor actor Michael Rosenbaum, who recreated the hotel-window photograph in his boxers, holding a sign reading “Perverts” over his lower body.

Rosenbaum captioned the image: “Just looking after my boy @tomwelling.” Welling then reposted it to his own Instagram Stories.
Welling was in New York for a reunion with his former Smallville co-stars, celebrating 25 years since the superhero drama first aired.
On Saturday (10 October), he joined Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk and Erica Durance at a convention for a panel titled The Road to Superman: 25 Years of Smallville.
The superhero coming-of-age drama debuted on the WB in 2001, running for 10 seasons before coming to an end on The CW in May 2011.
It explored Clark Kent’s early life before he became Superman, with Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang and Erica Durance as Lois Lane.
During the panel, which was hours after the NSFW photo mistake, Welling recalled a funny moment with his co-star John Glover.
“John came into my makeup trailer one time with a big smile on his face,” he shared, via EW. “And he goes, ‘I’m so happy to see you.’ I was like, ‘Why?’ He’s like, ‘I have a picture I’d like you to sign.’ And it was a picture from the internet that somebody had made of me completely naked.
“He thought it was so cute,” Welling said. “He’s like, ‘Is this really you?’ I’m like, ‘Yep.’ And I signed it for him.”

The cast also appeared on Rosenbaum’s podcast Inside of You, where Welling reflected on his time starring on the show as Clark Kent.
“There’s this term that I’ve come across in the last couple of years, that you can only be in survival mode or creative mode at any given point. And I think I was very much in survival mode for most of those 10 years,” he said.
Welling revealed that he enjoyed filming stunts.
In an episode of the podcast released last July, the Cheaper by the Dozen actor said he’s now very proud of the show.
“I’m proud of it now. Where I don’t think I was proud of it when we were doing it. And I’m not sure why because it’s hard.”
