Taylor Swift accused of being a ‘liar’ after fans spot major issue with her MTV EMA acceptance speech

Taylor Swift fans have accused the singer of 'lying' after she delivered her MTV EMAs speech on Sunday evening.

The Grammy award-winning star, 34, was nominated for seven awards at this year's EMAs and won four including Best Artist, Best Live Artist, Best Video and Best US Act.

Sadly, Taylor wasn't in attendance at the Manchester event (10 November), but appeared on video link to share a message, thanking fans for all their support.

In her video link acceptance speech, the singer said: "Hey guys, it's Taylor. I am coming to you from the Eras Tour. I'm so sad that I can't be with you tonight but thank you so much for these amazing awards.

"The fact that you have honoured the tour, everything that has happened with the album this year, the video, it's just unbelievable."

She added: "Thank you to the fans for voting on this. You're the reason any great thing happens to me and I know it every single day. I'm so thankful for it and this is just so exciting and so wonderful.

"I had the best time touring in Europe this summer so it is just wonderful for you to do this."

But some fans had an issue with Taylor's speech, with many noticing that there wasn't actually an Eras Tour show on Sunday, prompting many to claim Taylor was actually seeing her boyfriend Travis Kelce play football during a Kansas City Chiefs game.

Travis' team were playing against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium and won 16 - 14.

"We know damn well she’s at the game with Travvy," chirped a fan online while another added: "Oh Taylor. Pretending like you are not at Travis game."

Meanwhile, a third said: "Love how it makes it seem like she’s got a show tonight when in reality she’s at her boyfriend's football game."

Whatever Taylor was up to, we think it's fair enough that she has a night off, right?

It's fair to say it's been a seriously busy year for Taylor.

By the time the Eras Tour finishes in December, the singer will have performed a whopping 152 shows. The tour began on 17 March and is scheduled to finish on 8 December, 2024.

As well as the sheer number of dates, Taylor has also been jetting off all over the world to perform in various different countries.
