Tom Cruise has revealed what he and Taylor Swift were really talking about at the Kansas City Chiefs game this week, following mass speculation.
The unlikely duo didn’t attend the Emmy Awards and instead watched the singer’s husband, tight end Travis Kelce, who plays for the team, in action from a suite at Arrowhead Stadium during the opening game of the 2026 NFL season on Monday (14 September).
They were photographed and filmed chatting away, with nosy fans, myself included, trying to work out what the celebrity pair were talking about.
In an attempt to decode the conversation, lip reader Nicola Hickling told the Irish Star that Tay apparently said: “It's the structure of the entire infrastructure of the audience that's what I love in a positive way...so.”

While the actor apparently responded: “You may not know it, but you do have a job,” whatever that means.

But as we say, Cruise has now weighed in on the mystery himself and revealed all, explaining that the chat wasn’t quite so weird and cryptic.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (17 September), the Mission: Impossible star was asked what 'the biggest movie star in the world and biggest music artist in the world' would talk about.
Cruise laughed as he responded: "She was schooling me on football. For real, like she was bringing the football - first of all, she’s a genius.”
He gushed: “I’ve been following her since she was a kid. Everybody there, all their friends, they’re a beautiful couple, you know, and magical in their own right.
“Everybody there in that booth, I haven’t been to a football game since pre-COVID, you know, where I was working and everything. So, to get to hang out there and have that moment. It was a lot of fun.”
Elaborating on the hitmaker’s American football expertise, Cruise added: “She knows her stuff. She knew nothing about football when she met Travis.”
He explained how Taylor spoke about how ‘patient’ Travis was with her as she learned more about his sport.

He joked: “I said, ‘I’m sure he was.’ I think everybody would be very patient [with her].”
Delving into what else they spoke about besides sport, he had nothing but good things to say.
“We talk about music and movies, and she’s funny. She’s got such a great sense of humour. A brilliant writer also, by the way,” he added.
It comes as the 64-year-old movie star also appeared as a guest on Travis’ New Heights podcast on Friday (18 September) - and the compliments kept coming.
As per PEOPLE Magazine, he told the sports star: “She’s a cook, a painter, a writer, a poet, and look at you. It’s like being able to take something and then create in it. I admire that.
“When I see people, I’m always going around and looking at their skills and trying to understand that, and then I learn from it. And how do we apply it.”
Touched, Travis responded: “I appreciate you saying that, man. It’s the best, man; I appreciate you saying it. I’m a lucky son of a buck, man.”
