A man claiming to be Taylor Swift's high school boyfriend has issued an emotional statement following news that the singer is engaged.
For those out of the loop with the star-studded announcement, taking to Instagram earlier this week (26 August), the Grammy-winner revealed that her NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce had popped the all important question.
In an enchanted photo 'dump' from a private rose garden, the Kansas City Chiefs tight-end could be seen getting down on one knee.
Another saw the 35-year-old Travis presenting Taylor with a colossal old mine brilliant-cut diamond in a gold bezel setting.

The big-name couple captioned their joint announcement - which has since racked up a mind-blowing 34+ million likes: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
In the days after the announcement, one of Travis' exes, sports journalist Kayla Nicole broke her silence by sharing a video on her social media account of Tracee Ellis Ross talking about the difference between joy and happiness.
"Read about this very concept years ago in a book called Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn't Enough," Nicole captioned the post. "I aspire! So so good."

As we say, however, another ex-beau has since spoke out - this time, from Taylor's past.
And before you get excited, it's not Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles, Calvin Harris, Tom Hiddleston, Joe Alwyn or Matty Healy.
In fact, it's a tech boss and video editor named Andy Slye.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) last night (28 Aug), the man in question shared a super-old photograph of himself posing alongside the 'Love Story' singer, claiming to be one of her first loves.

"That feeling when your girlfriend from high school finally gets engaged," Slye - who also dabbles in wedding photography - captioned the sweet snap. "I used to tell myself: 'Andrew, it’ll be ok. She wasn’t right for you'."
He continued: "I just hope her husband isn’t some handsome buff football player."
Now there is no definitive proof that Slye and Swift ever actually dated, but his quick-witted post has since gone absolutely viral online, with Swifties commending him for his gentlemanly response.

"Looks like you’re a wedding photographer… Maybe she can use one coming up?!" one joked in the comments.
Another agreed: "They’re going to need a wedding videographer."
"Are you the reason for teardrops on her guitar?" a third joked, meanwhile.
A fourth gushed: "Underrated tweet lol."
In a follow-up post, Slye went on to confirm that he is actually happily married, and gave the 'Cruel Summer' hitmaker a shout-out for giving he and his Mrs some initial common ground.

"I wouldn’t have hit it off with my wife if it weren’t for Taylor," he went on. "Taylor was a topic the first time we met. We bonded over the music. "Now we film weddings as a husband/wife team. We love to film football weddings (like this ND one).
"Is anyone else thinking what I’m thinking?"
We certainly are, my friend!
