Nikki Glaser has been confirmed as the host of the 2026 Golden Globes event, and it's bound to bring back for her the memory of a wild joke about Ben Affleck she was forced to remove.
11 January is going to be a big night in Hollywood, where the rich and famous will gather under one roof to find out who delivered the best performance of the year.
However, they’ll also have to ensure some jokes about themselves, and while they might breathe a sigh of relief that Ricky Gervais wasn’t lying when he said he wouldn’t host the Golden Globes again, they’ve still got Glaser to think about.
From Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle ‘genes’ controversy and her Housemaid flick, to Timothee Chalamet's Marty Supreme movie and the fact he was targeted by Glaser last year, there's a lot of material for her to write up.

The comedian was the first ever woman to solo-host the Golden Globes back in 2025, and she didn't hold back when it came to her opening monologue.
Glaser began her speech by taking the mick out of Wicked's viral 'holding space' interview, which saw Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo cry (again).

Then, later on, Glaser made a hilariously savage joke about Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco after they had just gotten engaged.
"Selena Gomez is here," she began. "A double nominee tonight for Emilia Perez and Only Murders [In The Building], and she's here tonight with her new fiancé Benny Blanco.
"And Benny Blanco is here because of the genie that granted that wish. Man, lucky guy."
But the Blanco joke wasn’t the most savage through the night, as Glaser started up on Ben Affleck's orgasms– although, apparently, it could have been worse.
Speaking with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show, Glaser explained that she had to swap a few roasts for toasts instead.
“Am I gonna roast or am I gonna toast? You know what? I’m not roasting. I’m gonna toast," she told Stern.
“And I just did all these toasts that were roasts.
“Like, ‘Here’s to Ben Affleck, I can’t wait to see which Jennifer you try to ruin next.'”
Yikes.

This is, of course, a reference to Affleck having married and divorced two A-list Jennifers - Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez. Glaser said she did push back, but it was decided it would have been 'insane' to go ahead with the joke.
“I argued like, ‘Oh, I didn’t say ruin them. I said he tried to ruin them so it’s not against them.’ But I was like, ‘That would have been insane.'”
Singer J.Lo and Gone Girl actor Ben finally tied the knot in 2022, but divorced just two years later. At the time, fans were gutted, especially after the pair had already been engaged back in the early noughties.
Speaking on her divorce, which she described as 'the hardest time' of her life, Lopez told Interview: "You have to be good on your own. I thought I learned that, but I didn’t.
"And then, this summer, I had to be like, 'I need to go off and be on my own. I want to prove to myself that I can do that.'"
Prior to the two giving things another go, they married other people.
Ben married actress Jennifer Garner between 2005 and 2018, and the pair went on to have three children: Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 12.
Jen, on the other hand, wed Marc Anthony and welcomed twins Max and Emme, 16.
