A body language expert has broken down Beyoncé and Blue Ivy's iconic Met Gala appearance.
Fans of the 44-year-old 'Halo' singer were over the moon when she became the talking point of the prestigious fashion event after rocking up for the first time in a decade, walking the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art with her husband, Jay-Z, and their eldest daughter, 14, on Monday (4 May).
This year, the theme was Fashion Is Art, with the dress code inviting guests to express 'their own relationship to fashion as an embodied art form' and to 'celebrate the countless depictions of the dressed body throughout art history'.
And Beyoncé certainly didn't disappoint as she opted for a sheer gown by designer Olivier Rousteing, featuring crystal embellishments, which gave the illusion of a skeleton, paired with a dramatic feathered train and crystal headpiece.

Meanwhile, Blue Ivy wore a white puffball midi dress with a matching jacket - but did you know she was bending the rules by being there?

Met Gala invitees must be 18 or older to attend the event, which is a rule that was brought in in May 2018 when the theme was 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination'.
A spokesperson for the star-studded event later confirmed that the age restriction was introduced as 'it's not an appropriate event for people under 18'.
So, Blue Ivy's shock appearance at 14 left fans questioning whether the Met Gala makes exceptions.
Analysing the moment the mother-daughter duo walked the steps, body language expert Inbaal Honigman spoke exclusively to Tyla in collaboration with casino.org/us.
Delving into Beyonce’s big moment, the expert outlined: "Those confident, long strides say that she knows how everyone’s there to see her. She takes fearless, measured steps like a true royal.
"She waves at the photographers like they’re her fans, and she smiles proudly towards the cameras. Beyonce’s face says that she knows she’s loved, and she’s OK with it."
Honigman added: "When she speaks about Blue Ivy with La La on the red carpet, Beyonce’s chin shakes with emotion, as she’s struggling to contain her emotions. We see her blinking back tears."
And as for Blue Ivy, the expert explained: "Her poses are polished, she’s clearly been practising specific moves, as her lowered chin and hands-on-hips are meant to look mature and confident.
"But soon Blue Ivy is seen fiddling with her jacket, she’s also glancing nervously from side to side. Blue’s nervous fidgeting gives her away, and she’s not quite the mature, confident lady she’d like to portray."

Reacting to the 'rule break' on social media, one X user wrote: "How can Blue Ivy go if she’s under 18 ain’t that against the rules?"
While a second added: "Yk how huge it is that they let Blue Ivy come to the Met, considering no one under 18 is allowed."
But someone else pointed out: "Nicole Kidman’s daughter is there, and she’s under 18 so."
E News! reported that it’s ‘likely’ an exception was made for this year because Beyoncé is co-chairing the event, which would make sense since Kidman is also a co-chair, and she brought along her daughter Sunday Rose, who is only 17.
What do the Met Gala co-chairs actually do?
While Anna Wintour and the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute handle the actual planning of the Met Gala, the co-chairs play a major role in shaping the event.
The role of co-chair goes beyond the traditional hosting duties. It’s believed they oversee the guest list, interior design, and even help curate the highly anticipated menu to bring the chosen theme to life, though Wintour has the final say.
Often influential figures in fashion, film, music, or sports, they act as public faces of the Met Gala and ultimately attract media attention, high-profile guests and donors - it is a fundraising event after all.
Who are the 2026 Met Gala co-chairs?

The co-chairs for the 2026 Met Gala are Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Vogue’s global editorial director Anna Wintour.
It marks Kidman’s third time as a co-chair; she previously held the position in 2003 and 2005.
Beyoncé, who last graced the Met steps in 2016, will be taking on the role of co-chair for the first time. However, the singer served as an honorary chair back in 2013.
Despite being a regular on the Met Gala red carpet, it will also be Williams’ debut as co-chair, following in the footsteps of her sister, Serena, who was appointed to the role in 2019.
As lead sponsors of the 2026 Met Gala, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos will serve as honorary chairs for the evening.
