Netflix fans reckon they've spotted similarities between Meghan Markle's upcoming show and a similar series set to be released by Pamela Anderson - but others have made an important point in her defence.

Meghan is returning to television next month with her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.

According to Netflix, the series will give viewers a chance to ‘join Meghan in the kitchen, garden - and even at the beehive’.

Celebrity guests will include Mindy Kaling, Roy Choi, Alice Waters and more, with each episode seeing Meghan and her guest trading tips and tricks.

The series was shot in Montecito, California, the same place where Meghan and Prince Harry settled after leaving the UK. However, the new series was not filmed at their actual home, despite popular belief.

With the new show nearing its release date, fans have been taking to social media to discuss the premise of the show, with some likening it to a lifestyle series released by Pamela Anderson, Pamela's Cooking With Love.

In a trailer for the show - released on 26 February - Pamela says: “I love to cook. I just have always wanted to take things to another level.”

The clips seem to have a similar aesthetic, with both women inviting their family and friends to test out their recipes.

One fan wrote online: “The entire concept is strikingly similar."

While another said: “Markle’s show is a straight copy of Pamela Anderson’s cooking and entertaining show. Go look at the trailer!”

And a third added: "Sounds familiar?"

Others were adamant the shows were very different, and could be released alongside each other without any need for comparison.

After all, there are plenty of cooking shows on telly.

One person wrote on Twitter: "They are cooking shows - what do you want?"

And another said: "Well I’m gonna be that person, what do they expect it’s a cooking show. Of course they all look the same. Let’s see they’re all uh, COOKING and uh, in their KITCHEN. Past that it’s not really a cooking show anymore innit."

Meanwhile a third added: "Nothing similar here!"

Pamela's show was commissioned by Food Network Canada, with Pamela explaining in a statement: "Creating elegant and inviting spaces that inspire a compassionate, calm and healthy environment has always been important to me and comes naturally.

"Corus Studios and I have set mutual goals with good intentions. It's been a learning curve. I am confident they will be a positive partner in helping bring my true vision to life."

Tyla has reached out to Meghan and Pamela's reps for comment.
