Easter is a fun time for many families and like many, Meghan Markle shared a sweet video of her children taking part in an Easter egg hunt.

Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, were filmed enjoying an Easter treat in the gardens of their home in Montecito, California.

It was a rare glimpse into the Sussexes' family life, and Meghan also shared some videos of her chickens and one of her walking towards a coop, opening the lid and revealing a clutch of perfect-looking eggs.

So far, so wholesome, right? The kids were also discreetly shown wearing bunny ears, collecting eggs and carrying a giant bunny cuddly toy.

It wasn't long though before critics noticed a detail they were quick to call out as fake, with several of them accusing Meghan of faking one part of the video.

Posting on X, one wrote: "Anyone who owns chickens know when they lay eggs they NEVER come out this clean. Why does Meghan Markle LIE about EVERYTHING?!"

Another insisted: "They are shiny like plastic."

"I have a basket full of fake eggs which I use as decoration for Easter and they look exactly like these eggs," noted one critic.

One eagle-eyed viewer added: "They look almost pearlized. Freshly laid eggs don’t look that way."

However, fans were quick to jump to the Duchess' defence.

One was quick to argue: "Who is going to explain... those 2 white eggs are probably the chocolate eggs she hid for her two children to find on Easter Day?"

A person who owns chickens also stepped in, saying: "I will have to disagree with you on this one. I have a small flock of silkies and other breeds, and 90% of my eggs come out pristine and I don't need to wash.

"Maybe it's smaller flocks and less stress?"

"As a chicken owner myself, I have to disagree. My chickens pretty much always lay clean eggs, except when the weather is bad ,and they have muddy feet," defended another.

Another shared a pic of some clean eggs, and wrote: "I’m no fan of hers, but mine come out clean pretty often. A lot of the time, they’re disgusting too, but it’s also common for them to be clean.

"This was from Easter morning!"

The egg furore comes after another critic called the easter egg hunt video 'sad', and wondered why Archie and Lilibet always seem to be alone, rather than with other children for the hunt.

One wrote: "Megan’s new post for Easter again, and we get a peek at the kids’ heads.. Archie and Lilibet are almost the same height, and Lilibet is barefoot.

Nice to see them playing, but why are they always alone? A few friends would make this much happier. Kinda sad to watch."

Another called them the 'loneliest children ever' and questioned where the friends there age were.

Of course, Meghan only shows snippets of her and her children's lives, and it's very likely Archie and Lilibet have friends of their own who aren't shown off on social media.
