Macaulay Culkin left fans baffled after legally changing his name

Macaulay Culkin was just five years old when he made his film debut in 1985’s Rocket Gibraltar, but didn’t become a household name until Home Alone, AKA the ultimate Christmas movie, premiered in 1990.

Now 45, the celebrity remains relatively out of the limelight, most recently starring in an episode of Running Point and voicing Cattrick Lynxley in Zootopia 2.

There’s also rumours that Culkin will appear in the second season of Fallout, with his role yet to be announced - so that’s one for the gamers to watch.

In the past, the star, who is married to Suite Life of Zack and Cody actress Brenda Song, took to his site, Bunny Ears, where he admitted to fans he couldn’t remember what his middle name was, but was aware it was ‘something dumb’.

In an effort to rectify his forgotten moniker, Culkin decided he wanted to start a fresh start and begged fans to send him some ‘better options’.

The idea was that someone would hopefully position ‘something cool’.

Following the original post titled, 'Macaulay Culkin Needs A New Middle Name’, the Good Son actor revealed his ‘favourite five’ from the 'hundreds of suggestions' that had been sent in by fans

The so-called ‘best ones’ were as follows:

• Publicity Stunt
• TheMcRibIsBack
• Kieran, after his Oscar-winning brother
• Shark Week
• Macaulay Culkin

Taking them all to a poll on his website, he let his loyal followers vote for the one he should use.

He proposed: "Sure, I might have gold plated watercraft, and chrome plated invisibility cloaks, but all I want for Christmas is a new middle name. And then you can be all 'Oh, you got your wife a beautiful portrait of your family? Well, I chose Macaulay Culkin’s Middle Name.' And they will cry and cry.

"Don’t be the kind of person who cries on Christmas. Be the kind of person that chooses my new middle name."

So, what did the Hollywood icon’s middle name end up becoming?

The result was ‘Macaulay Culkin’ - with 60,990 votes.

Yep, that's right - the actor's name is now Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin.

On Christmas Day, the actor then took to X to share: "Merry Christmas to me, from all of you! My new middle name has been chosen. You voted and the winner is clear.

"In 2019 my new legal name will be: Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. It has a nice ring to it (if you like my name)."

I mean, it's certainly a mouthful - but undoubtedly iconic.
