Lewis Capaldi's 'secret' Glastonbury set has everyone saying the same thing after two-year break

Fans have rushed to social media to share their excitement following Capaldi's two-year hiatus from music

Lewis Capaldi has delighted his fans after rocking up to a 'secret' Glastonbury set at the festival's iconic Pyramid Stage earlier this afternoon (27 June).

After a two-year hiatus from music - which saw the 28-year-old Scotland-hailing musician announce that he would be 'taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future' to 'focus on [his] health and wellbeing' - festival-goers were thrilled to see him up on stage once again.

The crowd even started chanting 'oh Lewis Capaldi' - a sentiment which was very much so echoed by his fans online.

His supporters rushed in to praise Capaldi following his much-welcomed return to music, with many getting teary-eyed over his touching performance.

Taking to social media within mere minutes of him getting on stage to perform, one X user confessed: "WHO UP WEEPING WATCHING LEWIS CAPALDI!"

"Yes I’m crying over Lewis Capaldi," revealed a second, while a third chimed in: "Anyone else well up when Lewis Capaldi came out on the pyramid? Just me."

Capaldi opened his set with 'Before You Go' and told the crowd: "Glastonbury, it's so good to be back."

The singer also explained to the crowd that he wanted to 'finish what I couldn't finish the first time round on this stage', prompting a chorus of cheers from the audience.

"I'm not going to say much up here today because if I do I think I'll probably start crying, but it's just amazing to be here with you all and I can't thank you all enough for coming out and coming and seeing me," Capaldi continued

"Second time's a charm on this one everybody. We're gonna do this, just a short set today but I just wanted to come and kind of finish what I couldn't finish the first time around on this stage."

He added: "I want to thank everybody who's asking me for giving me the opportunity to do so. Also this was like the worst kept f**king secret so I don't know who's been f**king telling people."

While it's clear fans were beyond buzzing to see Capaldi take to the stage after a two-year hiatus, they'll no doubt remember what prompted him to 'take a break' from the 'biz in the first place.

Back in June 2023, Capaldi called his Glastonbury set a 's***show' as crowd filled in the lyrics because he struggled due to losing his voice, which subsequently triggered an episode of his Tourette's syndrome

After performing 'Bruises', Capaldi said he was having voice issues, telling the crowd: "I’m going to be honest everybody but I’m starting to lose my voice up here, but we’re going to keep going and we’re going to go until the end.

"I just need you all to sing with me as loud as you can if that’s okay?"

Before his final song, Capaldi told his adoring fans: "I recently took three weeks off just because I’ve been non stop the past year and I wanted to take a wee break from my head for my mental health.

"I wanted to come back and do Glastonbury because it’s obviously so incredible so I just want to thank you all for coming out.

"I was scared but you’ve really made me feel at ease so thank you very much for that."
