Kris Jenner has opened up on her short-lived experience with Ozempic, including why she stopped taking the drug.

The 70-year-old 'momager' made the revelation during her Tuesday (5 May) appearance on the SHE MD Podcast, hosted by world-renowned OBGYN Dr Thaïs Aliabadi and women's advocate and influencer Mary Alice Haney.

During the episode, she talked about everything from motherhood to being financially independent, as well as detailing some of the health treatments and choices she's made over the years.

And one that seemingly left her feeling worse for wear was Ozempic - a medicine designed to treat people with type 2 diabetes, but has been popularised by celebrities for its weight loss benefits.

It works by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone, which in turn regulates appetite, slows digestion, and improves your metabolism.

The most common symptoms associated with Ozempic are gastrointestinal, such as vomiting and nausea, diarrhoea, and indigestion.

And it seems that they proved a little bit too much for Kris, who affirmed that the popular injectable simply didn’t work for her.

She told the hosts: "I did not do, like, an Ozempic. I tried it. We tried it once when no one knew what it was, and it made me really sick."

The reality TV star reached out to Dr Aliabadi, who hosts the podcast but is also Kris’ personal physician.

She recalled: "I called her up one day and I go, ‘I can't work anymore. I can't, I'm so sick. I can't like - nauseous.’ And so she goes, ‘Okay, okay, let's try something else.’"

Together, the duo 'dialled around and looked at different options' before settling on an alternative.

Kris revealed: "I realised that a peptide injection was really great for me. And then I follow it up with supplements."

As per the BBC, peptides, which are the latest craze, are essentially short chains of amino acids, or small proteins, which our bodies naturally produce.

They act as messengers that tell our cells what to do, and play roles in our skin health, immune system, and help to control our hormones, and influence processes like hormone regulation, immune response, and metabolism.

ASDA Online Doctor explains that some kinds of peptides are licensed prescription medications that are approved for weight loss. But there are others that aren't regulated and are not approved for weight loss.

Kris also added fish oils and omega-3s to her diet, which she hailed as a 'game-changer'.

"That actually bought me an extra couple hours at night because I get up so early. I tend to want to go and collapse as soon as I have my last email or my last call or see my kids and have dinner and I'm done," she said.

As for other health procedures Kris keeps up with, she added: "I get my blood drawn every three months just to keep my hormones balanced, because I realised after I was 45 that was so important to your physical female health, just to keep that balanced."

She also gave a shoutout to her 'very famous' facelift that went viral last year.

Celebs who have spoken about using Ozempic

Sharon Osbourne started using Ozempic back in 2022 and revealed that she lost 42 pounds on the medication.

The 73-year-old is no longer using Ozempic after the weight loss made her feel 'happier and healthier than ever', but she previously admitted that the side effects she experienced weren't a walk in the park.

During an appearance on The Talk in 2023, she said: "I was very sick for a couple of months. The first couple of months, I just felt nauseous.

"Every day I felt nauseous, my stomach was upset."

Last year, Osbourne told the Daily Mail that since coming off Ozempic, she's struggling to put any weight back on.

"Now, I weigh just over 7st. I need to put on 10lb, but however much I eat, I stay the same weight," she explained.

James Corden

James Corden previously revealed that he dabbled with Ozempic in an attempt to shed the pounds, but it 'didn't really work' out for him.

"I tried Ozempic," he shared on his SiriusXM show in September 2024. "And it won't be surprising to you when you look at me now, that it didn't really work."

He continued: "I tried it for a bit and then what I realised was I was like, 'Oh no, nothing about my eating has anything to do with being hungry'.

"All it does is make you feel not hungry. But I am very rarely eating (just because I'm hungry)."

While Corden admitted that the drug was successful in assisting him on his weight loss journey, it failed to address the emotional and mental reasons for his harmful relationship with food, claiming he has an 'addictive personality'.

Rebel Wilson

Rebel Wilson has been open about her weight loss in the last few years, and admitted to using Ozempic as 'maintenance' following her shedding the pounds through other means.

Speaking to The Sunday Times in March 2024, Wilson explained that it 'felt so good' after naturally losing weight that she 'kept going' - leading to her trying out Ozempic.

"Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good," the Pitch Perfect star added.

Amy Schumer

Amy Schumer has been incredibly honest about her experiences with Ozempic, including why she decided to stop using it.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in June 2023, the comedian explained how after trying it, she became 'too sick' to play with her son, Gene.

"I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son," Schumer said. "I was so skinny and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t]."

While she admitted she felt 'immediately invested' in the drug before trying it out, she later realised it simply wasn’t a 'liveable' option for her.

A spokesperson from Novo Nordisk, the company that manufactures Ozempic, said: "At Novo Nordisk we care deeply about patient safety. Like all medicines, treatments used for chronic conditions can have side effects, and these can vary from person to person. That is why medicines are prescribed by healthcare professionals, who consider the potential benefits and risks for each individual.

"The safety of semaglutide is supported by extensive clinical trials and ongoing real‑world monitoring. Known side effects, which were primarily gastrointestinal, are clearly described in the product information. In clinical studies, the most common gastrointestinal events reported included nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting, and were generally manageable when the medicine was used as prescribed.

"Anyone with concerns about side effects, or about whether a medicine is right for them, should speak to their doctor, nurse or pharmacist, who can provide personalised medical advice and support."
