Twilight star Kellan Lutz has revealed the major life change he and his family made three years ago.
The 41-year-old actor, who is originally from North Dakota, moved to LA to pursue acting. After appearing in several TV shows, including CSI: NY, Six Feet Under and Heroes, his big break came in 2008 when he first graced our screens as Emmett Cullen in the Twilight saga.
He got engaged to TV host Brittany Gonzales, who is from Orange County, California, in 2017 and they share two children.
The family made a huge life change shortly after they welcomed their second child. They packed up and moved across the country to Tennessee.

“I love California, I really do,” Lutz explained on the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum. “The whole Tennessee move happened when we had our second kid.”
Lutz and his family had been living in Orange County until they decided to move. “Her family is awesome. But post-COVID, a lot of people flew, like fled California. A lot of people lost jobs and wanted to move.”

He added: “And one of the kids got sick. She felt really out of control as far as not being able to bring both kids there or just kind of helpless. So, she’s like, ‘Can we move?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, of course.”
After the couple and their children moved three years ago, Gonzales’ parents also ditched California and made Tennessee their new home. This was so Gonzales had a support system, Lutz explained.
He went on to add that men in his life who also have kids said new mums usually wanted to move to be closer to their own parents, so that they have help with raising the new additions to the family.
“Then when they decided to move, I was like, “OK, well, we’re going to do it. We’re going to give it a couple years and we have, and it’s great. There’s a lot of great things about Tennessee, especially Franklin where we live.”
Although the Lutz family has settled in well, the FBI star said he’s unsure if they'll stay permanently.
“We got some land, got great Bible studies that we’re a part of, great churches, great community,” he shared.
“There’s a lot of actors. I’ve gone to probably more movie premieres in Franklin, Tennessee, than I have in LA, you know, the last couple years since I lived there.”

But the move from California has meant the the family have had to make adjustments that they’re still getting used to.
“Like we aren’t seasons people,” he said. “There’s tornadoes. My wife goes on red alert, especially when you have kids. And we do miss good sushi and good Mexican food.”
In the past, Lutz said he was ‘old school’ when it came to dating and revealed he didn’t move in with Gonzales until they had tied the knot.
“We didn’t live together until we got married,” Lutz told Us Weekly. ”She is just amazing. She can cook like no other. And I’m not used to eating good food because growing up with six brothers, our mom was kind of, just like, ‘Here. Eat the casserole.’”
The couple met while Lutz was filming a movie 7 Guardians of the Tomb in Australia while she was in Orange County, California. “We just talked on the phone for, like, seven hours like pen pals, across an ocean,” he shared. “It just felt very classic, our story. And just beautiful.”
