Sports journalist and media personality Kayla Nicole has issued an apology after her extremely offensive social media posts resurfaced.
The posts in question, which were shared on X between 2010 and 2014, saw Kayla use homophobic slurs, call Asian people 'rude as f**k' and use derogatory language while referring to people from Mexico and India, People reports.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, about a week after the tweets resurfaced on X, Kayla posted a statement to her Stories which began: "I want to take a moment to sincerely apologise for the hurtful tweets I posted so many years ago.

"Seeing them resurface last week has been incredibly difficult, and reading them now, I'm ashamed that I ever thought or spoke that way."
"They were ignorant, hurtful and completely wrong."

Kayla, who was in an on-again, off-again relationship with Travis Kelce between May 2017 and August 2022, went on to say: "The woman I am today would never use those words or express those kinds of views.
"Over the years, I've seen firsthand how cruel and harmful online hate can be, and I would never want to add to that world of pain in any form.
"I have since deleted those tweets and my X account entirely, because I refuse to keep that energy alive or contribute to a cycle of hate."
She rounded off: "I take full responsibility for what I posted, and I'm truly sorry to anyone I may have hurt.
"My heart, values, and perspective are completely rooted in empathy, love, and respect for others."

Kayla concluded to her 983k followers on the social media platform: "I can't change the past, but I will continue showing through my actions who I've become and what I stand for today."
Last month, the journalist garnered negative attention after fans speculated that her Toni Braxton-inspired Halloween costume was a subtle jab at Travis' fiancée, Taylor Swift, which she denied.
"I’m not in the business of tearing other women down. I am in the business of celebrating them," she said on one of the latest instalments of the Pre-Game podcast on Saturday (8 November).
