Katy Perry has left Met Gala fans seriously confused after turning up to the event in disguise, posing for photos in a bizarre mask alongside Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie.
Perry donned a floor-length white gown and long white gloves, paired with... um, what looks like a fencing mask.
When photos started circulating, many people assumed the unnerving image they were seeing was all down to AI, or some random social media user with a Photoshop account and some time to kill.
One wrote on X: "Oh so that Katy Perry picture is real? Chile."

Someone else admitted: "Thought that katy perry picture was ai."

Another commented: "Katy Perry hid her entire face at the Met Gala and still got more attention than people who spent 6 months planning their look. Respect the strategy honestly."
A fourth asked: "Are we sure that’s Katy Perry?"
One other echoed: "Are you sure that's Katy Perry? Could be anyone under that mask."
It's a fair point, but thankfully Perry did later remove the mask to confirm that it was her.

Someone offered up their theory behind the outfit, pointing out it may well be a nod to the mannequins at this year's exhibition.
"Katy Perry arrives at the #METGala paying homage to the mannequins that adorn this year's exhibition, created by Samar Hejazi with mirrored faces designed to make the viewer reflect themselves in the fashion/work that meets their eyes. Balenciaga?" they wrote.
Many fans had wondered if Katy Perry would make an appearance tonight, following recent allegations made by Ruby Rose.
The Orange is the New Black star claimed on Threads that the singer sexually assaulted her nearly 20 years ago, writing: "Katy Perry sexual [sic] assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s*** what she thinks."
A representative for Perry denied the claims in a statement to Variety, saying: "The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.
"Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."
