The Kardashians are ditching decade-long festive tradition and it will leave fans shocked

It seems the Kardashians are leaving extravagance behind, as Kim has revealed the 'intimate' choice the iconic family have made for Christmas this year.

When it comes to the Kardashians and traditions - there's a lot to unpack.

Between the iconic family Christmas card and the ridiculously OTT birthday parties, we're not even sure what region the budget lies in anymore.

However, it seems as though they're looking to strip things back this year, as Kim revealed in an interview with Vogue, that they're choosing to switch up their festive plans.

In recent years, the family have gone all-out for a chaotic Christmas Eve party that is never short of a star-studded guest list.

Previous guests include Paris Hilton, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Tyler the Creator and Timothée Chalamet.

The mum of all mothers, Kris Jenner, started the tradition in the 1970s. But Kim and sister Kourtney Kardashian have alternated between hosting over the past decade.

PEOPLE magazine reported that the parties cost up to $1.3 million to organise, and with performances from Sia, there's really no surprise.

In preparation for last year's bash, Kim transformed her $60 million mansion into a winter wonderland, complete with fake snow and an eye-watering amount of Christmas trees.

But the Skims founder said that the family are looking to have a much more 'intimate gathering' in 2024.

Last week, she said to Vogue at the grand opening of her New York City Skims store: "We’re doing a really low-key Christmas Eve party this year.

However, the 44-year-old admitted that there's only one reason they're scaling back - construction work at the house.

She added: "So we’re doing a really family intimate one that I’m really excited about, but of course we're still dressing up to the nines, because that's what we do.

"We've had some legendary Christmas Eve parties and they're just beginning."

The star noted: "Our kids love them and now all their friends want to come. It’s such a fun tradition."

The year before Kim's winter wonderland party, Kourtney took a very different theme.

She filled her garden with all things red, and the main event took place in a 'giant glass tent'.

Guests were invited to try the family's 'traditional recipes', which included mac and cheese, sweet potato souffle, and honey-baked ham.

And of course, there was something going on for the kids.

Between a giant ball pit, a balloon animal artist, and meeting elves from Santa’s workshop - they could never really complain about being bored!
