Jamie Lynn Spears' daughter Maddie Watson has broken her silence for the first time on her 2017 near-death experience that put her in a coma.
The 17-year-old, who Spears shares who shares with her ex Casey Aldridge, was just eight-years-old when she was involved in a horrific ATV accident.
She almost drowned after accidentally driving the vehicle into a pond on her mum and stepdad's Jamie Watson's property in Louisiana, US.
The child and the ATV were fully submerged in the water, and, according to USA Today, other family members unsuccessfully attempted to free her from her seatbelt.

However, emergency services quickly arrived on the scene and she was airlifted to Children's Hospital New Orleans in critical care.
After two days in a coma, Maddie miraculously made a full health recovery. And now, eight years on from the terrifying accident, she has addressed what happened for the first time, in her own words.

In a YouTube video posted on Tuesday (August 12), Maddie delved into the different injuries she's sustained over the years and described herself as 'very accident prone'.

She was promoted to do so after she recently tore her shoulder labrum - an injury that sadly will prevent her from playing sport during her senior year of high school.
Elsewhere in the video, she reflected on her near-death experience as a child and described herself as 'very blessed'.
She told her subscribers: "I did have an accident though. I was in a coma, and I came back to life, and I’m very blessed."
Adding: "So yeah, I've just been very accident-prone. I swear my parents are amazing and they did not do anything to me."
After Maddie shared the honest video, her mum reposted a clip of it to her Instagram and penned a lengthy caption about how proud she is of her daughter.

She wrote in the caption: "What was supposed to be a fun way to document her senior year on @youtube has now turned into a way for her to share the not so fun parts of life too.
"You can work so hard, and do everything right, yet still face adversity, no matter what path you’re on in life. You can’t control everything that happens to you, but you can decide how you react to what happens to you."
"I know being a resilient person is one of the best qualities a human can have, but it’s only earned by having no other choice but to be resilient."

The mother continued: "Gotta trust Gods plan. I’m so proud of this kid, she never lets anything or anyone sit her down, and sharing her journey through it all hopefully inspires others to never stop going hard for what they want out of life."
Spears often honours the anniversary of the near-fatal accident and expresses how grateful she is that Maddie is still here.
In 2024, she wrote on her Instagram: ""Today is our #MIRACLEANNIVERSARY. Every year that passes and I watch my daughter grow up, the more I realize how very blessed we are, and never want to take that for granted."
She added: "Again, thank you to all the healthcare professionals who made the life saving decisions, and thank you to each and every person who prayed for our baby girl. Thinking of Father Mark today, although he is in heaven now, he was always like an angel on earth for us, especially on this day 7 years ago."
